I am Kim Fleury Jordan and I am a mother of two: Ben, who is 19 years old and Maya, who is 15. My elderly parents live with us. My husband, Bruce, has Parkinson’s disease and is retired from practicing law. He is also a qualified daycare provider. Together we have started this Family Child Care business because we value our family time together and our community and we recognize how lucky are to have always had me at home and family close by to help when child care was needed. We want to be there for others and to share our home in that way.
I have always worked with children from the time that I could. I started as a babysitter who also planned birthday parties for the kids I babysat. I have worked at Camp Alexandra in Crescent Beach during the summer leading summer camps. I have worked for Surrey Parks, Recreation and Culture teaching kids everything from science and cooking to drawing and painting. I have been a Senior Camp Leader for groups of 55 kids over 2 summers. I trained as a Child and Youth Care Worker and earned a Diploma from Grant McEwan College in Edmonton in this field. I have been a Child and Youth Care Worker with the Langley School District since 1994, working primarily with children with behaviour and emotional challenges. I also have training in working with Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I hold a valid First Aid Certificate and I am 3 credits away from a Fine Arts Certificate from Kwantlen University College (someday!...).
I look forward to any ideas or input you may have to add to the experiences of the children. I believe in the adage that it takes a village to raise a child and I am honoured to be included as a member of this village with you.
