I have been a nanny for over 15 years and I have a lot of experience helping children be ready for preschool or kindergarten. I am a big fan of learning through play and we do a lot of sensory play and arts and crafts. I can provide many references and provide a receipt for tax purposes.
At my daycare we spend the bulk of the day outside. There is no such thing as bad weather as long as you are dressed appropriately. Outside there are so many opportunities to teach colours, shapes, numbers, problem solving and imaginative play. Children learn creativity as they explore and imagine new worlds of their own. Children build strength and self confidence. We have a big back garden which has lots of areas for children to play. I change the back garden set up depending on the season. We do a lot of messy play and science experiments.
We grow our own vegetables so I love to get the children involved in gardening. I always organize a few activities each day as well as making sure the children have time to play how they like.
We do a lot of singing and dancing. I do teach the children the recorder as it is great to learn at a young age. It teaches them how to read music and finger placements which helps them be able to learn other instruments when they are older. It is so nice seeing them be able to play songs they know!
We do a lot of art and crafts. We love painting and making pictures. We do not watch any television. We play a lot of games. I love baking and cooking with the children too.
We do have a mini dachshund who thinks he is a baby too. He has always been around children and is very good.
I am fully vaccinated and keep up to date with COVID boosters and flu shots. I ask all my families to be up to date with vaccinations please.
Part time and occasional as well as full time available.
