I have provided childcare for many years with my mom. Upon her passing I have moved closer to her family here in Peterborough. I have also kept up with my own professional development so that I am not just doing the "same old thing" with the children and ensure that the parents know I am properly trained and up to date with new learning paradigms that are being presented at school and in also child care centers. This is something that I value, as I want to sure that the children I care for are receiving the best care from a trained professional and not someone who is "just a babysitter." Being Ministry licensed I am subject to unannounced quarterly inspections from Compass to make sure that I am following rules and policies. This can also help parents to know that someone is watching over me and I am accountable. I have a home that is smoke/pool free, which allows children to grow mentally, physically and emotionally in a partnership with families. My rate includes all meals and drinks (breakfast, snack, lunch and last snack) so there is no need to send your child with anything. I am mandated to follow the Canadian Health Food Guide so the kids are given limited sugar/salt/processed foods. I do have a police check, vulnerable screening check, up to date with my First Aid CPR and my Food Handlers Certificate.
The children are never left unattended. We will spend the days outside playing exploring and playing and not in front of the television. I do not have any screen time and the television is NOT used as a babysitter. It is important to me to ensure that the children I care for have the necessary skills that are needed for junior kindergarten.
Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
