Emergent Curriculum combined with Montessori Program
I've been a child care professional for over 20 years with a portfolio including extensive education and training in Child Development, Nutrition, Safety, Business, just to name a few. I have opened “Building Blocks In Home Multi Age Child Care” and am looking forward to build relationships with families in our community. My philosophy is that children flourish best in an environment in which they feel safe enough to express curiosity, creativity, and feelings as well to experiment and ask questions. I provide such an environment through consistency of expectations, a predictable routine and loving support of the individual child and his/her uniqueness. My emphasis is on offering rich childhood experiences where children can build their passion and attention over time and become life long learners. *Preschool curriculum is based on their interest to promote creativity, exploration, cognitive & socio-emotional development, fine & gross motor skills, dramatic play, science, arts, language, math, sensory, music, and FUN through our daily activities.
A home like environment gives children opportunity to learn in small group and get individual attention.
I ensure open Communication and healthy relationships with the parents. My commitment to my childcare is the promise of safe, quality childcare, and educated, friendly care provider who genuinely loves her job.
I consider Building Blocks to be an extended part of your family and look forward to creating a lasting friendship with you and your child.

Our philosophy is based on the widely accepted idea that children learn through playful interactions with their environment. Our curriculum is an emergent inquiry-based curriculum. Emergent meaning it is flexible and emerges within the interests of the children and the classroom community. Inquiry-based meaning that we observe how the children are interacting with the environment and what questions/theories they are wondering about the world around them. We plan the curriculum around those questions and/or theories with an emphasis on creativity, thinking, reasoning, and building relationships.
"Times have changed, and science has made great progress, and so has our work; but our principles have only been confirmed, and along with them our conviction that mankind can hope for a solution to its problems, among which the most urgent are those of peace and unity, only by turning its attention and energies to the discovery of the child and to the development of the great potentialities of the human personality in the course of its formation."
(From the foreword to "The Discovery of the Child", 1948)
Birth to Age Six: Before the age of six, a child learns from direct contact with the environment, by means of all the senses, and through movement; the child literally absorbs what is in the environment. The toys and materials in the home and school for this period of development should be of the very best quality to call forth self-respect, respect and care from the child toward the environment, and the development of an appreciation of beauty. |
