Description

Little Buds is a licensed, forest school-adjacent home daycare that provides both day and overnight care to children 0-6yrs.

We currently have 3 spots available for OVERNIGHT CARE:
7pm-7am, Monday-Thursday (Thursday pick up is Friday morning at 7am)

We became licensed June 2023, and have been contracted to the Region of Waterloo since that time. This means we can offer the flat CWELCC rate of $22/night to our families. More subsidy is available through the Region, if needed!

*We are a scent free, gluten free, pet-friendly household.*

All snacks and meals are GF, and they are (with rare exception) home made.

Ann (Annie)--the owner and caregiver at Little Buds--and her partner Matt have a 2.5-yr-old, who is naturally part of the daycare crew. Annie grew up the oldest of 5 kids and started babysitting for her own siblings and the neighbourhood kids when she was 11 years old. She has a background in education, having earned an MEd in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Development at OISE. She also did an MA in English Literature at U of T, and (in another life) a BA in Drama, so she has a particular fondness for telling stories, making art and playing pretend. She loves to be outside gardening, hiking, canoeing, and generally nurturing her relationship with the land.

A typical night:

Our evening care routine will include some combination of:
o Some quiet activities (puzzles, boardgames, colouring)
o A bedtime snack
o Family screen time on our projector (a portion of a documentary about the planet/animals/space)
o Bedtime Yoga/movement practice
o Brushing teeth/using potty/diaper changes and PJs
o Story time
o Singing some bedtime songs
o Sharing gratitude/kind wishes

When there is more daylight, depending on the ages of our group we might try and get out for a walk with the dog before getting settled.

We have breakfast between 6am and pick-up at 7am (depending on the day, you’re looking at oatmeal, toast, bagels, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, or home-made baked goods).

We have 3 OVERNIGHT spaces available for as early as March 1st for kids 2-6 yrs. (If your child or children falls/fall outside of this age range, or if you have different needs for a window of time, let’s talk anyhow, I’ll see what I can do). Please feel free to reach out!

Note: preferring to keep our location private to current and potential families, I have put the address as the Frederick Mall. We are a two minute walk away!
Admission conditions
We have a big, calm family dog named Boston. He's a 7-yr-old golden retriever and he loves kids. Needless to say, you and your children will need to be ok with doggos! (and possibly being a little fuzzy at the end of care!)
