I run a fairly relaxed daycare in my dog friendly home (We have a Bernese Mountain dog named Tilly) where we learn through open ended play.
I cater to teacher's families and I run on the York Region school Board schedule, so I'm closed and do not charge fees over summer break, but charge a $20 daily fee to hold the space over the 2 weeks at Christmas and 1 week at March Break. So for 1 week it's $100/week during those times. This allows me to hold the space over summer at no charge for families.
Our daily routine goes something like this; drop off, playtime, morning walk/school run, snack, morning circle time, nap, lunch, afternoon walk/school run, snack, playtime and pickup. We have very little tv time on a daily basis, but the children may watch an age appropriate show or video while I prepare a meal or activity or sometimes on rainy or cold days we may have a movie day. Weather permitting we try and go outside for an hour everyday.
I have a very large family and have been taking care of my younger cousins since the age of 12 when I took my first childcare course. In addition, I have my Bachelors Degree in Psychology where I took many classes on child development. I have always loved kids and when I had two children of my own, I knew that childcare was the career for me.
Additionally, I have a post graduate certificate in Counselling, my CPR and first aid training and both my husband and I have our police checks done. |
