You can expect your child to have fun and get dirty! We love to play outside so pack your rubber boots! (or leave them here in your cubby!) Our outdoor environment is stimulating and fun! We've got hockey and soccer, basketball, bicycles, chalk, sandbox, and a cedar playhouse (coming in March 2008), complete with kitchen center and barbecue (pretend of course!).
We also have a vegetable garden where your child can experience the joy of planting seeds and watching them grow! Children have no greater joy than tending to their own seeds with water and weeding, and then pulling out their own carrot to eat for lunch or snack! (or they can take it home to share with Mommy or Daddy!) Pumpkins are planted in our garden too, although it can be hard to be patient while we are waiting for them to grow! While we wait, we read lots of books about pumpkins!
Indoor Fun and Learning
Your child will have structured learning opportunities like circle and calendar time. We*ll learn about shapes, colors, numbers and the alphabet. Being the special helper is a right of passage in preschool, so we have that too! My own children and I love books and music, and rhymes with finger puppets and flannel boards.
I love to teach with arts and crafts, and we like cooking too! Each child has their own cubby where they can hang their belongings and store their shoes. Here is where you can find their art project at the end of the day, or their cooking creation (unless we ate it for snack!)
I use monthly themes to guide our learning. You will receive a monthly calendar outlining your child*s anticipated experiences.
