2 of my clients have recently to kindergarten, so I have 2 spaces available this fall.
My home is a caring environment with nutritious meals and a fun learning atmosphere. Themes and activities are geared to each child's ages and abilities.
Some of our regular activities include:
-arts and crafts
-colouring & drawing
-letter & number tracing
-early literacy activities & games
-music
-games
-stories
-educational activities
-fort building
-costume play
-nature walks
-scavenger hunts
-field trips
-baking
-homemade play-dough
-water play
-plenty of outdoor time.
My home is on a quiet side street in Forest Heights.
We are a close walk to parks, a community centre, the library, and bus routes. Our neighbourhood is a convenient distance from the expressway for commuters.
I like to attend educational workshops and conferences throughout the year, held on evenings or weekends to keep my skills up to date. I also like to attend web seminars pertaining to my field for educational updates. I have previously participated in the development of programs to help local caregivers improve training opportunities with the Region's Home Child Care Program.
I have been a caregiver for over 19 years.
I had served as a licenced child caregiver with the Region's Home Child Care Program for almost 10 years before opting to go on their inactive list (none of my clients are in need of subsidy).
When we go on our adventures, we often take our camera along and email our captured moments to mom and dad, so they can enjoy seeing their children at play.
The children like to use some of these photos at the end of the day to help tell all about the adventure they had.
Respect is important to us, so pictures are only take or posted with parental permission.
I have a childcare blog that I use to keep my clients up to date on our themes, and daily activities.
My clients have told me how much they appreciate this extra feature, especially when they are first returning to work after a mat leave.
It's easier for them to go through the transition when they can get regular updates of their child's activities.
I like to ensure a smooth transition back to work for both parents and their children.
I have references from both past and current clients available to share. When the time eventually comes for my clients to graduate to kindergarden, move away, or take mat leave, we usually have a little going-away party for the children.
It helps to ease this new transition, and helps their playmates as well who have become their close friends over the years.
We do enjoy having reunion visits in the summer with some of my former graduates - it's nice to see how much the children have grown over the years.
Some of my references are posted on my childcare website, www.kitchenerwestchildcare.webs.com.
All of my references are available to be viewed in person at my home as well, in their original paper form.
I have offered my services as a substitute child care provider, for when other providers are ill or on vacation. We have made a good network with quality caregivers in a few different subdivisions, and have arranged for a decent back-up system with each other (provided that they have spaces available). If one of us were to become ill or need a day off, clients have options for 'Plan B' alternate care to cover the absence with another caregiver parents can approve of before its needed.
If you need driving directions, I'd be happy to email you a map with directions to my house if you send me a request via email.
Looking forward to meeting you! |

I am flexible with my office hours; if you need to work outside of my posted regular hours, please email me a sample schedule and I may be able to accommodate your hours. In the past, I have done early mornings (5:00 am) for my clients or overnights when requested. I would consider this again if it could be accommodated without my family or daycare children losing sleep.
We have a gentle dog who loves children, he is a 8 year old Sheltie. He is great with children, and a little shy at first with adults. He especially loves to show off his tricks for the children and likes when they give him doggie treats.
I provide email/paperless receipts for my clients. |
