I provide a warm, nurturing, positive and safe environment for children where there is emphasis on the establishment of a trusting, caring, and loving relationship with the child and open communication and partnership with the family. I provide a rich child-centered environment where there is freedom to play and explore one’s imagination, creativity and interests under the helpful, encouraging presence of a caring adult (me!).
The Magical Forest daycare is unique in that I can provide your child and you with the following:
1) A nurturing family home environment where your child will be incorporated into the day-to-day rhythms of home life.
2) Baby Sign Language (I have Basic Level ASL)
3) Nutritionally balanced homemade vegetarian lunches
4) No TV
5) A Magical Forest in our own backyard in which to explore nature and stimulate the imagination.
During the course of the day your child may engage in many activities which could include playing with any of the many developmentally appropriate toys, art, crafts, singing and listening to songs, playing music, story time, puppet shows, outdoor time (with an emphasis on nature appreciation), basic literacy and numeracy, observation of and/or ‘assistance’ with household chores, cooking and baking, a neighbourhood walk or outing, snacks, lunch, and naptime (for those who need it).
We have a very large yard complete with wooden constructed playhouses and slides and a sandbox and a large playroom with many open ended play things such as dress up clothes, play kitchen, play store, etc and an elementary school nearby for playground outings outside school hours. We are also situated close to farmland and a lake which come in handy for visiting some of our animal friends.
I am the mother to two daughters, ages 1 and 4 and the step-mom to a 15 year old boy. My career background is in psychiatric rehabilitation and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology as well as two years of American Sign Language and Social Work. I also have taken a number of courses related to child care and have 3 years experience. |
