I am a Child and Youth Worker with experience with children of all ages and abilities. I work with children with disabilities, have worked in detention homes, group homes, daycare centres, aquatic environments as a lifeguard and instructor, treatment facilities, children's aid societies, and more. With this experience I am well trained in behavioural techniques in discipline and teaching skills. I bring all my experience into my home care to provide an environment that encourages cognitive, physical, emotional and psychological development.
I have a house with a play room and livingroom combination that has been childproofed. We have a large eat-in kitchen, nap room, bathroom, and small backyard for the children to use. There is a park two minute walk from the front door as well as a school and ball diamond.
We do activities such as craft, recreational outdoor play, puzzle activities, songs and story time, homework time (prepare for school), language, math, and science activities as well. All activities are age appropriate and will relate to the time of year or different things that may be going on at school or home.
We make special trips to Adventures on Wonderland, the Children's Museum, and OEYC. You will be provided with an events calendar at the beginning of each month so you know what your child is doing. There is a communication book that is sent home with comments about your child's day and any issues or concerns that may come up.
We do have a small dog (pug/westie pup), and cat. Both animals are kept in a different room then the children at most times, they may be allowed in for a pet once in a while - not often and parents can request that they are not allowed.
