My Philosophy on Child Care
It is my goal to empower the children to respect and value themselves and others. To this end, I provide a varied, warm, supportive and non-judgmental environment.
I have owned and operated Angel Daycare Centre as a Licensed Family Daycare Centre in my home since 2002.
Children learn through play. My program offers the resources and opportunities to learn in all areas of development, socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. My resources include activities that provide a balance between both quiet and active, group and individual activities.
Angel Daycare Centre offers activities and materials that are easily accessible to children for creative endeavors such as, art, (crayons, felts, paper, etc.), music/movement, imaginative play/story telling, construction (building blocks, etc.).
The children are also provided with materials and activities which foster a greater understanding of the environment, multi-culturism and sharing of cultural heritage, a child’s feeling of belonging to a family, community and the world at large.
Age appropriate activities are readily available to the children in my care which encourage the development of concept building skills, such as, classifying, ordering, determining direction, perceiving spatial relationships. Age appropriate activities are provided to encourage the development of receptive and expressive language as well as informal use of language, to model and expand verbal and listening skills and encourage communication and receptive language. Books, tapes/cds, picture cards, flannel boards, and finger play are provided for these activities. Puppets, singing/rhymes, and dramatic play help children to enhance their expressive language skills.
Outdoor activities are provided to encourage the development of both large and small muscle skills. Children are provided with a variety of play equipment such as, slides, swings, cars, see-saws, bouncy house, building/construction equipment, water/sand table, as well as running, jumping, climbing equipment and games, dramatic play, and art/creative expression. Depending on the weather, outdoor activities are given equal importance as inside play times.
The activities that I have set up are developmentally appropriate and challenging. Children are free to incorporate these learning experiences at their own rate.
My goal, as a family childcare provider, is to provide a loving, home-like atmosphere for your child. I know that in a relaxed and non-threatening environment, children will feel safe and enjoy the variety of stimuli that I offer.
I understand that day care is merely a part of the child's day and that home is very important to them. Therefore, I maintain an ongoing communication with the family to ensure that we all have a clear understanding of the child. Parents/guardians are encouraged to arrange a time to meet with me to talk about their child and his/her response to the program.
If you choose to enroll your child at Angel Daycare Centre, I want to first thank you for trusting me with the responsibility and opportunity to share in your child’s life and to let you know that I do not take this responsibility lightly. This is a partnership to be entered into with honest and open communication, both as providers and parents. As a parent, I know what a step it is to leave your child in the care of another person, and I want this to be as comfortable as possible.
