ABOUT ME
I provide home Daycare to children of all ages, and I truely love what I do!
I opened my daycare in May 2009 and have had a full house ever since. In September 2012, my children will be 4 months and 2 years old.
I have been working with children my whole life through babysitting, camp counilling, girl guiding, and providing daycare. I love being around children, helping them learn, and watching the grow. Each child in my home is treated like my own. They are respected and given lots of love.
I live in Village Green in Kanata. It is a beautiful area that is surrounded by parks and playgrounds. The neighbourhood includes a splash pad water park, 3 playgrounds, a community center and the public library. The children enjoy our weekly visits to the library where we can attend story time and pick out new books to keep our daycare library new and fresh. We attend playgroup every week and the children enjoy having the chance to meet and play with new children.
I enjoy arts and craft time especially and offer art projects as well as child-led art time. We do a larger art project at least once a week, with regular art offered each day.
We enjoy music and dance time where the children make lots of noise and move to the music. Being a former vocal instructor, I also incorporate musical theory and of course singing to these sessions. I have personally created and developed an interactive curriculum to teach music to little ones. We have music time once a week where we focus on music appreciation, age-appropriate theoery, rhythm, singing, and instruments.
We spend a lot of time outside. Winter or summer, we spend afternoons at the parks. The community is full of children who all enjoy playing together. There is always someone to play with when we are there.
Each day includes time set apart for bilingual circle time. The children love to sing and dance, learn their ABCs and counting, colours, animals, and stories in English and in French. They always look forward to this special fun time.
I allow plenty of time for child-led play and learning. Children have free reign of the crafts and we love to do sensory play. We also play group games and do organized crafts and activities.
I operate the daycare in English except for the bilingual circle time. I understand French, but I speak english with the children. |
