My name is Karen Fraser, I am a professional Early Childhood Educator and I have been working with young children for 15 years. I started my career as a nanny and for the last 10 years I was employed in a group child care setting. I opened my home daycare in May/09. My references are available upon request.
I am dedicated to providing a quality child care program that is designed to encourage each child to develop his or her own potential. I strongly believe that self esteem is a critical component in optimizing emotional and intellectual growth in young children. To facilitate this, my program focuses on socialization, and self help skills which serve to create a foundation that will assist the child in other areas of his or her development. I will endeavour to encourage and guide each child in learning and sharing their experiences. All children in my centre are given the opportunity to explore, experiment, and create in a safe and nurturing environment.
The daily program will be as follows. I will have a preschool program in the morning which will include, arts, crafts, puzzles and manipulatives, and then I will have a "circle time" where we will (as a group) discuss the calendar, play games, sing songs, and read stories. All of our daily activities will follow the current theme of the month (ex. October: Thanksgiving, and Halloween). Each parent will be provided a printed calendar for each month which will describe the upcoming activities and themes for that month.
Step by Step Family Child Care is a fully licensed home based centre that my husband, and my daughter (2 years) will be participating in whenever possible.
