My name is Krista Bray and I opened my daycare in 1993. I live on Victoria St in Metcalfe in a country setting . My daycare is geared towards infants and children aged 6months-4years. We enjoy being outdoors daily. The children in my care are stimulated with arts and crafts/stories/ and circle time. I offer healthy meals and snacks following the Canada food guide. I have my current CPR, First Aid and up to date police check. My program includes a monthy theme and each child is sent home with a monthly calender to keep the parents well informed with our daily activities.
Throughout my 24 year career as a Home Child Care Provider, as well as new knowledge attained through taking my ECE, I have developed my own personal philosophy.
One of the things that I enjoy the most about my job as a childcare provider is creating activities based on the children’s interests. I believe that as an educator it is important to provide opportunity for children to explore and discover. They are capable learners and I believe that children learn by doing. This is where I believe the best learning happens. As an educator, I believe children all excel in different areas, because of this I put emphasis on encouraging children’s individual talents and skills.
Something that is important to me is developing a comfortable trusting relationship with the children’s families. This allows us to work as a team to effectively meet your child’s needs. Both parents and educators roles have a vital part in children’s learning. By working together with shared goals the children will surely contribute to more successes.
