I would like to extend my loving and nurturing home to your child for the summer months.
I am an educational assistant and a mother of two children, ages 6 and 9 yrs. I have 20 years of experience in educating children/adults with special needs, and work full time for one of the Ottawa school boards during the school year.
My education consists of Educational Assistant diploma, (2 yr college program), 1991; currently working on undergrad degree @ Carleton U., (going back in September), and many other special interest courses, (from many realms : pharmacology, fitness leadership, physiology, and the list goes on.) I have my American Sign Language certification, (level 1), and work in a signing environment all year long.
I am first aid/CPR with defib. training certified, certified in Crisis Prevention, (Non Violent Crisis Intervention), enjoy being creative with kids - I love to teach! I play guitar, so music will be part of your child's time with me.
Healthy, nutritious snacks, relatively structured day, but not too structured-(it's a home environment, and school's out!) Lots of outdoor and indoor play, parks nearby, many children in the neighbourhood. I am also offering tutoring in the mornings for one hour, to help your child stay current with learning that occurred during the school year and to help with any difficulties she/he may be experiencing. (There is an additional cost of $25.00 per hour for tutoring.)
Safe home, smoke free and pet free with someone who adores and understands children!
