We are recruiting for both full and part time spaces that are currently open as well as one that will be available in the coming months. While many of our families come from the Hintonburg, Wellington West and Westboro areas, we also have families join us from Centretown, Vanier, Gatineau, the Glebe and all other parts of Ottawa.
We continuously take names for our waitlist. We are not part of the centralized waiting list, so we encourage you to contact us to let us know your child's age, whether you would like PT or FT and when you would like to start daycare.
Kitchicoo Daycare was created nearly a decade ago by a group of 6 families motivated by the desire to be fully involved in the running of their child’s daycare - families who wanted to have a high level of control and say over what went on in the daycare on a daily basis.
Kitchicoo is run as a cooperative model, meaning all families are involved and expected to participate in the proper functioning of the daycare. Each family has a role in the running of the cooperative and an equal say in programming, food and all other decisions. Families also commit to volunteering at the daycare alongside our staff caregiver one day a week (or one day every two weeks for part time families).
Values guiding the families are those of cooperation, open communication, flexibility, respect, and of course, the well-being of our children.
Kitchicoo is located in the heart of Hintonburg (near Gladstone and Parkdale). We are very community orientated, bringing our kids to local parks and splash pads, neighbourhood playgroups and even berry shopping at the Parkdale Market!
