I am a mother of two children. In 1988 before I had my children I was an E.C.E assistant at a Daycare center on Bronte Rd at Rebecca in Oakville for 1 ½ yrs. I had the responsibility of opening the daycare at 7:00-am. I helped with planning for circle time, planning for crafts and helped in the kitchen preparing meals for the kids. After 11/2 yrs. I was told that the daycare was downsizing and would I consider joining the home daycare side of the business. I decided I could do home daycare on my own. I was approached by two parents from the daycare. They asked if I would consider doing daycare in my home for their children. So that was it, I was in business and I have never looked back!
My own children came along, my daughter in 1993 and my son in 1996. I have been a member of the Halton Child Care Registry in Oakville since its inception,( but with the registry changing its direction, in June 2009 I decided to not renew my membership).
I have sat on the task force which implemented a conference for providers and is up and running every November in Oakville. I also attend a ECE conference in Brantford every April, along with workshops provided by the Halton Childcare Providers Association.
I am a member & and chair of the Oakville chapter of the Halton Childcare Providers Assoc. I am also member of the Burlington chapter of the Halton Childcare Providers Assoc.
I am an active member at both my children’s schools.
I renew my infant & childcare CPR every year.
As you can see I take my job seriously, I am not a babysitter (they get paid more an hour then I do) please don’t refer to me as one.
I do work the school year, so teachers children tend to be a part of my daycare, however if you are able to work around the school year schedule, you are welcome to contact me. If I can’t help you, not to worry...I do have contacts with other providers in the association I can put you in touch with.
Admission conditions
I am open only the school year. I close for all school holidays and snow days. I remain open for P.D. days.
Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
