My philosophy in child care is to help children develop into resilient individuals. Throughout our daily routine, I emphasize taking turns, being kind and being fair to one another.
We keep busy with free play, circle time, story time, craft time and outdoor play. During free play, children are encouraged to choose an age appropriate toy and enjoy. After cleaning up, we sit in a circle and listen to a story or two and we review the weather and the calendar. Then, we sing songs and review our letters, numbers, shapes or colours. We then do a craft related to the weekly theme. We then wash our hands and have our snack before going outside. In the back yard I have a large patio on where children can ride cars and trikes. On hot days we enjoy water-play and in humid summer weather we cool off in the wading pool and the sprinkler. We also have a sandbox, basketball nets and slides; busy kids are happy kids.
We eat home cooked meals and snacks and the children learn independence by taking turns in being the day’s little helper. Duties include handing out the cutlery, cups and bowls.
We encourage being kind by sharing and taking turns, as well as caring for our friends by helping to get dressed, reaching for a toy or finishing a puzzle. This is how we build a strong family.
Each day is a learning experience through play.
Qualifications:
- National Family Child Care training Program Certificate
- I regularly participate in caregiver workshops though the Early Childhood Community Development Centre (ECCDC)
- CPR and first aid certified
- Clear Police Record Check
Open hours: 7:30 am to 5:30 pm (flexible)
