My Biggest goal for providing childcare in my home is to provide a LOVING, SAFE , FUN , and STIMULATING environment for the children to grow and learn. My set up focuses on Play based learning.
Activities throughout the day include:
Dramatic Play -where the children dress-up and act out daily situations, such as taking care of baby dolls, cooking in the play kitchen, Playhouse, working construction , playing a doctor a clown, princess....
Music & Movement - exploring instruments, dancing with scarves, marching in a parade, playing Dance & Freeze or just listening to music while at play.
Sensory - Manipulating play dough with rollers and cutters. Working with Goop(cornstarch and water), Digging in the cornmeal at the sensory bin or sandbox. Water play in the sensory bin, backyard pool or the bathroom sink.
Creating & Art - From as young as infancy children feel a sense of accomplishment and excitement when they realize their actions cause something to occur.
Rubbing a marker, crayon or paintbrush across a paper and seeing the colors and knowing that their action made this is quite exciting, just as an older child creating a craft, picture or project allows them to feel proud.
Physical Activity - Crawling through a tunnel and, Running, biking, kicking balls, skipping rope, Nature walks, hockey sticks...
Change of Environment/Socialization - we visit an Early Years Playgroup twice a week and take part in activities outside the home. Visits to the park, library(story time), Kindergym
Circle time - Although we read stories and sing songs throughout the day, this is a time, where we sit together and sing some songs, do some fingerplays and action songs and read some stories.
Quiet time -Nap
Baking - Occasionally we bake together, taking turns measuring, stirring, mixing and pouring and then, of course, eating what we made.
Snacks/Lunch - Healthy meals and snacks. Fresh fruit, cheese & crackers, veggies, pasta, rice, hummus, soup, milk at mealtime and water throughout the day. Occasionally we may have a special treat, cupcakes or Timbits for b-days , etc but we always have something healthy on the side
Although activities and crafts are planned throughout the week, I go with how the children are feeling.. It may be a beautiful day and the children may want to go to the park, or a walk instead....Or the children may want to do crafts all day, .....bringing home a bag full of their creations.
I take pictures of the children pretty much every day and send them to parents by text or whatsapp
* If I feel that I am not well enough to care for your children I will take the day off but will give you as much notice as possible.
*If your children are sick with a flu or infection, then I believe that they need to be home.
*Any Questions...ALWAYS ASK these are your precious little Angels and I want us to feel comfortable when communicating with one another. |
