Description

I have been doing daycare since 1988. I have two children, daughter graduated Ottawa University and a son graduated Wilfred Laurier University.

I have had police checks done through sports with my own children over the years/CPR TRAINING.

I take great pride in teaching children cooperative skills, reinforce manners that parents have already taught, and work together with parents concerning any behavior issues.

I do realize that children need to be stimulated with teaching at an early age and that is why I teach the babies sign language- some basic signs such as please, thank you, more, up, down, sorry, mommy, daddy and I think this helps with learning words and any frustration children have while learning to communicate. I always say the words while teaching the sign. Also, I like to walk the Loafers Lake Trail (weather permitting). Due to the pandemic we do not visit the neighbourhood parks at this time. We play in backyard, deck and in court at end of street. I read stories, teach colors with toys to children where I sit and hold any babies that don't walk or sometimes the older ones still sit on my knee. We do a lot of singing or dancing by tapes and watching children’s animated songs on computer. We will count 1-5 for younger children and 1-20 for older children, in French, Spanish and English. The children like to sing some finger rhymes as well. Once children are 2-1/2 – 3, I will work together with parents to teach them to print the alphabet and of course their names so as they will be ready for school. We also enjoy coloring, painting and crafts, and creating sidewalk chalk portraits. I start toilet training with children at the age of two and ask parents to reinforce this at home as well.

If any children are ill - of course we will stay home. If a child is vomiting, experiencing diarrhea or has a fever, you will be called right away.

I ask you to supply food if your child doesn’t eat food other children eat. Lunch time is at 11:00 - 11:30 and sleep-time from approx. 12:00 – 2:30.
Menu examples: soups, macaroni and cheese, cheese pizza and spaghetti, grilled cheese, pancakes, meat-cheese cold plate. Desserts – ice-cream, yogurt, jello, pudding, fresh fruit. Snack-time is at 3:00 p.m. everyday which I usually provide muffins, popcorn or cookies.
