Education:
My background is in Child care; I received the Early Childhood Education diploma from Algonquin College in 2001 and a degree in Child Studies from Carleton University in 2003. I am now a mother of two who is eager to provide the best that home daycare can offer to my children and yours.
Experience:
From 1999 until 2003 I worked in school aged programs (primarily with kindergarten aged children) in a part time capacity. Immediately after completing my degree in 2003 I began a full time career working for the Ottawa Catholic School Board in their child care services department working in a daycare. After 6 years and 2 children I have decided to stay home and begin my next career as a home care provider.
The Program:
I believe that my home should provide a “home away from home” for your child and while I want them to experience the warmth and individual attention that home based child care can offer I also wish to promote their learning with age appropriate toys, activities, games, songs and creative experiences with a strong focus on emergent literacy and numeracy skills to help prepare them for preschool and/or kindergarten. I feel that a flexible learning environment can meet the needs of the individual child as well as the group.
My Philosophy:
My goal is to provide children with a quality environment where they can learn through their play and thrive in a setting that is structured yet is flexible enough to meet individual needs. Strong focus will be given to respect for others and self as well as the basics needed for nurturing and stimulating children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical well being. Children will thrive in an environment that is safe, caring, clean, and developmentally stimulating.
