Hi my name is Christiane. I am a mother of two (8 &10) and I run a happy home-based daycare called Little Monkey's Home daycare since 2010.
I do not have a Full time space at this time.
I am CPR & First Aid certified for children and youth. I also have my Vulnerable Sector Police check done.
I have completed a daycare seminar with Durham Daycare and another home daycare course through York Region (level 1 certificate). I strive to provide safe, nurturing care professionally as well as with fun. In the past I have also volunteered with the Girl Guides Brownie Unit and am a community volunteer for a sports organization. I am comfortable and experienced working with children of various ages.
Generally hours are 7:15 - 5:15 (Monday through Friday). The daycare is geared towards children between 12 months to 4 years old for full time or part time care. Babies are always warmly welcomed.
I give parents of babies/toddlers daily sheets so parents always know about their baby's day i.e nap length, diapering, foods eaten etc.
Preschoolers also receive a daily communication sheet outlining activities of the day.
I offer 2 healthy snacks, beverages and a nutritious home-cooked hot lunch that follows the Canadian food guide. Lunches include spaghetti with beef, lasagna, chicken noodle soup, beef goulash and rice, chicken and rice, etc). I try to incorporate organic or locally grown foods whenever possible to ensure optimum health for growing bodies and minds.
I am experienced and conscientious with childhood diet restrictions (i.e pork) or allergies (milk, soy, etc) so care is taken to prevent exposure, however; this is not a peanut free home.
We have a non-smoking, smoke free home with fully fenced and gated backyard. Our home is child-proofed, gated and children are given access to safe play areas. Everything is done to let your child have a safe and fun day.
We have a ragdoll cat in our home. This breed of cat is very calm. She is strictly an indoor cat and has all her shots. Interaction between our pet and the children is always very closely monitored so that neither gets injured and interactions are positive ones.
Our main play area/daycare area is on the top floor with lots of bright windows and sunlight and not in a basement. Lots of fun toys, books and puzzles. There is LOTS to do for boys and girls and age appropriate toys for all ages. There is a train centre, dramatic play centre, and an every day living centre and more. There is also a music area. Special toys are brought out periodically and rotated.
Besides free play, we also try and do a daily circle with songs, finger plays and poems. We try to make our days interesting and fun so that we keep things fresh.
Our backyard has play equipment for various ages.
There is a beautiful play structure in the backyard with swings and a slide for older kids. There are baby swings as well as big kid swings. There is also a step2 play structure for the younger children and toddlers to do some climbing and sliding and also a play castle which the kids enjoy playing in.
We go outside daily.
We love our visits to the park or going on a walk around the neighbourhood.
Every day we do individual play as well as group activities.
Children are encouraged to participate in crafts, puzzles, textures, songs, storybook time, daily walks/outdoor play and more fun activities for your child. We do exploration of the neighbourhood, discuss animals and lots of singing and learning activities too (i.e ABCs, colours, animals, shapes, etc and learning based on age). Preschool children are introduced to letters, glue, textures, patterns and learn in a fun way. The daycare follows a daily schedule and routines and is very interactive with your little one. Children are stimulated, spoken to, read to and nurtured.
We try to balance learning and cognitive stimulation with exercise and fun playtime. There is lots of opportunity for imaginative/dramatic play and theme-based days or weeks. We do dress-up too.
The emphasis is fun and learning to gain confidence, self esteem and exploration of new skills through positive reinforcement.
I provide a safe, nurturing environment to leave your child with peace of mind. There is lots of TLC, fun and giggles, outdoor time, activities and interaction with your child.
Rate is $40 for a full day. Annual tax receipts are given for full time and part time care.
