SAFE AND SOUND is a private home daycare and playschool in Toronto's vibrant Leslieville community. Care and programming are provided by a mother-daughter team of a certified elementary school teacher and an experienced nanny with a combined 35+ years of experience working with children.
We accept children aged 12 months to four years and operate in a dedicated space in a warm, welcoming home. Located steps from Greenwood Park, the Jones Branch Public Library, the Queen Street streetcar and all the fun and flavour of Leslieville, SAFE AND SOUND offers a healthy balance of free and structured play and learning, field trips, community partnerships, and outdoor adventures. We provide two snacks and one meal per day, all of which are homemade, nutritious and focus on seasonal, organic ingredients wherever possible.
SAFE AND SOUND offers a child-led curriculum, focusing on the ever-changing interests and life experiences of our children and what is happening in the world around them. Life skills, from literacy to social skills, are incorporated into all elements of the program. Activities include, but are definitely not limited to:
- literacy and numeracy development activities
- regular trips to Greenwood Park, Leslie Grove Park, the library, Lil' Bean n' Green and other local venues
- music and dramatic play
- morning aerobics
- outdoor play
- sports and active games
- Circle Time
- puzzles and small motor activities
- exposure to basic French
- fitness activities and large-motor skill development
- free play
- water play
- construction and blocks
- expressive and sensory art activities
- individual quiet activities and story time
- ongoing projects
- field trips (High Park, Toronto Island, The Beach, swimming/splash pads, libraries, farmers markets, parent or child initiated trips) |
