I am the mother of two spectacular children ages five and eight years old.
Being that my home is quite cosy the children interact closely while at PLAY
Activities throughout the day include:
Dramatic Play -where the children dress-up and act out daily situations, such as taking care of baby dolls, cooking in the play kitchen, Playhouse, working construction , playing a doctor a clown, princess....
Music & Movement - exploring instruments, dancing with scarves, marching in a parade, playing Dance & Freeze or just listening to music while at play.
Sensory - Manipulating playdough with rollers and cutters. Working with Goop(cornstarch and water), Digging in the cornmeal at the sensory bin or sandbox. Waterplay in the sensory bin, backyard pool or the bathroom sink.
Creating & Art - From as young as infancy children feel a sence of accomplishment and excitement when they realize their actions cause something to occur.
Rubbing a marker, crayon or paintbrush across a paper and seeing the colours and knowing that their action made this is quite exciting, just as an older child creating a craft, picture or project allows them to feel proud.
Physical Activity - Crawling through a tunnel aand jumping on (sml) trampoline , Running, biking, kicking balls, skipping rope, Nature walks, swimming in the pool, climber, swings,...
Change of Environment/Socialization - we try to visit playgroups(Andrew Fleck and Greely) or take part in activities outside the home. Visits to the park, library(storytime), playdates, childrens concerts, Museums, Midway...
Circletime - Although we read stories and sing songs throughout the day, this is a time, where we sit together and sing some songs, do some finger plays and action songs and read some stories.
Quiet time - Colour in colouring books, read stories , quiet games and puzzles or watch a show like Dora..., Little Ensteins..
Baking - Occassionally we bake together, taking turns measuring, stirring, mixing and pouring and then of course eating what we made.
Snacks/Lunch - Healthy meals and snacks. Fresh fruit, cheese & crackers, veggies, milk at mealtime and snacktime , juice and water throughout the day, pasta, whole wheat, ....Occasionally we may have a special treat, cupcakes, Rice Krispie squares, etc but we always have something healthy on the side.
Although activities and cratfs are planned throughout the week, I go with how the children are feeling.. It may be a beautiful day and the children may want to go to the park, or a walk instead....Or the children may want to do crafts all day, .....bringing home a bag full of their creations.
I take pictures of the children and display them in the mudroom and in a daycare album so that they can enjoy looking at themselves. I also provide a burnt cd so that you may enjoy them also.
I also like to do a journal so that I can I can provide parents with an idea of how our day went. Some days may be busier then others but everyday I will try to give you a quick summary of what your child did throughout their day, a new word, a milestone they accomplished, a funny story that they told their friend, participation in crafts or activities, toys that they enjoyed that day, meals and snacks(ate well or not), BM’s. If they had a sad day and needed lots of hugs and snuggles...... This also gives the parents and myself another way of communicating..Reminders or special activities, appt’s,
Although I am not fluent in French, I do use French in my program.
*Any Questions...ALWAYS ASK these are your precious little Angels and I want us to feel comfortable when communicating with one another. |

An important part of our family is our medium size dog Olympia. She is very gentle and may greet you with some hellos but then she will usually go have a nap. |
