I am an E.C.E. graduate (1994) with my First Aid and CPR certification and run in full compliance with the CCEYA. My experience spans 25 years and includes work as a Resource Teacher, Teacher's Aid in JK/SK classroom, Head Teacher in Senior and Junior Preschool and Infant classes, private nanny, mother to my own children and finally, 17 years running my own private daycare.
Located in College Manor, Newmarket, Home Again Childcare Services backs onto a playground and Bogart Public School and is about a 1 minute drive to Highway 404. With the main floor of my home totally dedicated to the daycare, children have a spacious and bright area to learn, play and interact. My home is organized, clean and the daycare area is fully disinfected on a weekly basis.
Programming utilizes themes, encouraging children to explore the world around them and learn from ordinary (and sometimes extraordinary) experiences. We have a strong lean to environmental awareness, respect for nature and embracing cultural and lifestyle diversity. Our daycare is equipped with a well stocked craft centre, theme related art activities, puzzles, manipulatives, fine motor activities, sensory, dramatic play and a reading centre. Toys are rotated monthly to keep the room fresh.
Meals are homemade with focus on whole foods and their relationship to a body's functionality, exceeding requirements for growth and development. Our weekly visit to Vince's Market encourages the children to participate in choosing our fruits and vegetables for the week, with a stop at the bakery to select one treat to share. Accommodations for gluten free and vegan diets are also available at extra cost. Menus are diverse, affording children opportunities to broaden their palates. Your child will never see a processed hot dog or Kraft Dinner here.....never.
We have plenty of outside time with a fully fenced back yard, complete with a child safe playground. All flower beds have been converted to vegetable and herb gardens which the children help plant, tend and harvest each summer/fall. This exercise provides children with the valuable experience of actively participating in the production of foods, learning where they come from beyond the market and our refrigerator. We even make our own apple sauce from our apple tree each fall. We can often be found picking leaves from various herbs to learn about the different flavours provided by nature and hard work.
Home Again Childcare Services has a strict 'open door policy'. If your child attends here, you are free to walk, in any time you wish (please respect the sanctity of nap time). Outside activities are planned, on occasion, to foster relationships between the parents, children and their provider. Everyone here knows each other, which is quite special. It is a 'daycare family' in every sense of the word.
