Hello,
My name is Nadine, and I am the loving mother of an adorable 19 month son named Tristan. Before I was a mother I was always involved in child care on a part-time basis through being a babysitter, or a live-in-nanny. Now that I'm a mother myself I have decided to take this opportunity to stay home with my son, and bring in a few playmates as a source of socialization for him, and a small source of income for myself. I realize not everyone is in the same situation of being lucky enough to stay at home with their children, so what I am trying to provide is the next best thing- a family type enviroment for their child(ren).
We live in a quiet residential neighbourhood, in beautiful North Vancouver, surroundedby beautiful trials, parks, a water park, and a great elementry school. I have a great backyard that is completely fenced in, and have plenty of outdoor toys for the children to enjoy.
I believe in "positive parenting" for example I never use the word "no" and have opted instead to say "ah ah" I feel this has greatly affected my sons attitude, as "no" is a word which I feel puts so much pressure and restrictions on children. I re-direct the childs behavior, if they are doing something "inappropriate," and I believe distraction to a more appropriate activity is often a great help. My son is very gentle and plays well with other children. We have plenty of toys, and being a mother myself my home is competely child-proofed.
I have just recently updated my infant/child firstaid/CPR, and do plenty of reading about child development/behaviors, etc. I feel children are facinating, and I feel honoured to be the one teaching them.
If this sounds like an enviroment in which you would be interested, or would like to know more, feel free to contact me. Thanks for reading, and best of luck in your search. :) Nadine |

Must be ok with the fact that we have a dog, he is an adult (4 years old) and has always had children around. I had him when I was a live-in nanny, and can provide plenty of other references for him as well. We also have a dog walk, so there is no worries about fecal matter in the childrens play area. |
