I am a loving mother of two girls age 13 and 11 and I have 10 years experience as a child care provider. I started doing home child care to spend more time with my children when they were young but since I love it so much I have continued to do this even now that my girls are in school full time. I take my responsibility seriously as I know I am caring for the most important person in your life. I am a non smoker and I am very dependable.
We are located close to a small park as well as the waterfront park. I have a bus stop for Burkevale School, James Keating, and possibly St. Ann's this year.
We do structured activities to develop fine and gross motor skills. We have puzzles for ages 18 months - 8 years. We have lots of building toys, colouring, play-doh! board games,crafts, Brain Quest flash cards, baking, music/singing, reading, pretend play etc. We take daily trips to the park (weather permitting) and have a fenced in backyard with a swing set, trampoline (with enclosure) and other toys for outdoor play. I disinfect our toys regularly to help stop the spreading of germs.
We enjoy fun days such as crazy hair day, pajama day, funny hat day, teddy bear picnic day, etc. Of coarse we have cupcakes on your child's birthday!
When I say we have an educational program, I mean that I teach age appropriate things such as colour recognition, counting, alphabet, etc through play. Manners, sharing, respect for others and things and good behaviour is also strongly enforced.
I like to have good communication with the parents. It helps me to know if the child was up late the night before, if they aren't feeling well, if they did something new over the weekend, etc. This way I know what to expect for the day. I like to tell parents how their day was - Did they eat well? Did they have a good nap? Were there any behavioural problems? Did they take a first step? etc I love to take pictures of the kids since they do the cutest things! I love to share these as well. This way you know what is going on during the day while you are at work. I treat children as if they were my own. I will snuggle if they need it, give hugs, and give positive attention to motivate.
Available hours are Monday-Friday 6:30-5:30pm. I can start earlier but I do charge an extra $5 for before 6:30am. Part time positions need to guarantee 3 days a week. After school spots are sometimes available. Please inquire if space is available.

I would like trial period to see if the relationship between the child and I will work as well as with the other children. I like to start with just a couple of hours for a few days and work up to a full day. I find this works best if the parents are not here as a child usually acts differently if the parents are around. |
