At TykesNTrykes Day Care we provide a structured environment trying to keep to a routine as best as possible believing that it is through play that children learn best. I feel it is my role to provide quality, interesting and stimulating materials and equipment to facilitate this play. I provide materials that meet a range of developmental levels. This creates an environment for each child to grow and learn at their own rate, because each child is different and therefore grows and learns in their own unique way.
A lot of our “programming” occurs in the moment, taking advantage of simple every day learning opportunities. Often we will focus on a specific theme for a day. I will send home a weekly calender of our planned activities and themes. I strive to keep my focus on the childrens’ interests and take my cues from them. The children and their families are my priority and so this is simply one of the ways I try to show and give them the respect they deserve. I provide a strictly anti-bias environment. My daycare is open to any child and family regardless of their abilities, culture, race, family structure etc. I do my best to represent all types of people within my daycare but would also appreciate any input from you. If you have information on cultural holidays or customs unfamiliar to us - please share! If you can provide information and insight into your family structure that we could use - please share! If you can better help us understand certain abilities or disabilities that are perhaps a part of yourself or someone you know - please share! We would love to learn more!
I am a graduate of the Developmental Services Worker program and have worked in the field for 14+ years I am also a graduate of the Social Services Worker program, working with hard to serve youth, youth involved with the law, and volunteered at CAS. Creating and adapting programs both educational and recreational towards each child's needs has been something I have been doing for many years.
I believe in working within a child's' strengths and growing their abilities from there.
I will offer after school hours for some children, as well as work within some shift work hours on an individual basis.
Meals and snacks are supplied with a weekly menu provided in advance.
Daily progress reports will be provided and open communication between myself and the parent is also welcome on a daily basis.
Will be incorporating sign language based on the "weehands" program in our daily activities.
Therapy dog visits once a week sometimes more sometimes less. If there are allergies other arrangements can be made.
Loose schedule it may change based on childrens needs. A more refined schedule will be worked out once all children are in place and we see who needs what at what times.
