After graduating from Humber college with Honours in Early Childhood Education, Over 25 years experience, including 11 years at 2 daycare centers. In 2004, I decided to start my own home daycare, when my son was school age.
I had the fire department and the health department in to inspect my basement when I first started. I have a kitchen, bathroom and large playroom in my basement for the children in my care. The playroom is set up in different play areas such as puzzles, fine motor, gross motor, dramatic play, books, sensory, and creative.
I have themes that I change weekly by rotating the toys, activities, puzzles, and books to keep things new and fresh for the children. I have a monthly menu, daily schedule, and an eat and sleep chart for every child, posted on a Parent board for parents to view. Each child has a space to store their coat and spare clothes, as well as a drawer in the bathroom for children with diapers, and wipes.
I have a large fenced backyard with many toys that are taken out and rotated regularly, including: books, colouring activities,tool workbench, and play food with a kitchen. I have a large concrete pad for playing sports, and/or riding bikes. I have two play structures one for 1-3 year olds and one for 2-5 year olds with swings, slide, and a sand box.
I have First Aid/CPR certification that I renewed May 2019 through the town of Halton Hills. I have my Food Safety Certification through the Halton Region. I give income tax receipts every January. I have police check and vulnerable sector screening clearances from 2014 (current one available upon request).
As of August 1st, I am licensed with Little Leaders Home Day Care Agency and can care for up to 6 children.
