After graduating from Humber college with honour, I worked for 11 years in 2 day care centres. I decided to start my own home daycare when my son was school age. I had the fire department and the health department in to inspect my basement. I have a kitchen, bathrom and large playroom in my basement for the children in my care. The playroom is set up in different play centres such as puzzles, fine motor, dramatic play , books, sensory, and creative.
I have weekly themes where I change the toys, activites, puzzles, and books to keep things new and fresh for the children. I occassionally do field trips as special activities. I have a monthly menu, daily schedule, eat and sleep chart for every child, and a calendar with weekly themes and special outtings posted on a Parent board for parents to view. Each child has a hook to store their spare clothes and coats, as well as a drawer in the bathroom for children with diapers.
I have a large fenced backyard with many toys that are taken out and rotated regularly, books, colouring activites and a pad for playing sports and/or riding bikes as well play structure with swings, slide and a sand box.
I am a member of the Halton Child Care Information Line where I update my First Aid and CPR yearly. I took a Food Safety Course through the Halton Region. |
