Description

As a mom who has left her children in daycare while working, I strive to make things as easy on parents as possible so you don't have to stress about getting to work on time or owrry about your children while you are there.

I am an English language and literacy teacher (adults and children) and mother of three (one preschool, one starting full-time JK in September and one in high school) and have been taking care of babies and children since I was about 10 years old in one way or another. I am a member of CCPRN, have a current police check and certified CPR/First Aid.

I know how difficult it can be to leave your precious children while you go to work. Like me, you want a safe, loving, home-like environment where your children can grow and learn. I believe in giving children a nice balance of structure, stimulating activities, and free play/down time to foster creativity and imagination. We have regular morning outings including:
• Community playgroups
• Library
• Parks and playgrounds (splash pads in the summer)

We also spend time at home in our bright, sunny playroom and large fenced yard where we have a large variety of activities to keep little minds and bodies busy including:
• Stories (English and French)
• Music, singing, and dance
• Age appropriate toys (rotated and added to on a regular basis)
• Crafts and art
• Dress up and make-believe
• Puzzles and games
• Physical activity such as yoga, running, ball play, sliding, sledding, building snowmen etc.
• And much more!
In addition to playing and having fun, we also do lots of learning. As a language and literacy teacher, I believe in teaching colours, numbers, letters, shapes, concepts etc. in an integrated and spontaneous manner which fosters children’s natural curiosity and love of learning rather than forcing and scheduling learning. Learning can take place while doing just about anything. I speak an intermediate level of French (B level in gov’t) and do try to incorporate some French learning into every day as well as attending bilingual playgroups. I also have a huge focus on teaching social skills such as compassion, respect, manners, sharing, making friends etc.
I serve only healthy, homemade meals and snacks (okay so I don’t make crackers myself, but I do bake wholesome muffins and snack bars) and I do not serve any junk food or highly processed foods. We are pet-free, smoke free, pool free. We are also culturally sensitive, diversity loving, and cloth diaper or disposable diaper friendly :)

Full day fee includes lunch and two snacks. Also includes the cost of playgroups, field trips, special activities.
