Description

Hello!
My name is Danielle, and I am a stay-at-home mom of three great kids. I have 2 daughters ages 11 and 12 and a 7 year old son. I have been providing childcare in my home for over 16 years, and I am returning to childcare after taking a few years off to care for my children. We are new to Stittsville, we moved to this area in December. It's a beautiful area and we are looking forward to getting to know our neighbourhood.

My three children are schooled at home. Things have always run very smoothly when we are well organized, and therefore daycare children are not lacking for attention. My children are homeschooled under the Montessori method of education, and therefore are very independent learners. Any new lessons are very short and are usually done in the afternoon while younger children are sleeping, or during the evenings evenings and weekends. Schooling at home means that we learn at various times, and it is not only done between the hours of 8 and 3 pm. Weekends have become school days for us so that I can continue with a great daycare programming during the day. We have many ongoing projects that involve all the children. Like a Montessori School can manage a classroom of many children of various ages, I can do the same. :-) I have managed schooling my children at home and daycare for many years, and the children in my care are never lacking for attention. Organization is key.

I have a lot of great childcare experience, and I have experience with children of all ages. I'm available to care for children of all ages, and I offer a wonderful, fun-filled, child-guided, stimulating and age-appropriate environment.

I am a former Registered Nurse with a speciality in pediatrics, mental health and obstetrics. I put my career as an obstetrics and pediatric nurse on hold in order stay home to raise and homeschool my 3 adopted children. I am presently working on a refresher course, with a goal to eventually return to work on a casual basis, on evenings and weekends, in the later future. (I will always be available during the day because I stay home with my children). I have also worked as a foster-parent for the Children's Aid Society of Ottawa.

Being a nurse, I understand the need to extended and after-hours care, and therefore I am very flexible when it comes to hours of care, and I do offer care in the evenings, overnight and weekends.

I offer a wonderful, INCREDIBLY stimulating, child-guided, fun environment, where children are encouraged to be creative, to explore and overall just have a great time. I'm a child-at-heart, which makes me fun, patient and very caring. As a childcare provider, I have always believed that caring for children requires more than being patient, fun,and responsible. I also feel there needs to be great importance in raising children to have empathy, compassion, tolerance and kindness in their hearts for others. Therefore, in my weekly themes and daily activities, there is an appropriate amount of emphasis on developing these wonderful traits and virtues.

I also have a lot of experience in the childcare field, and I have a Montessori-based learning environment. I received a lot of my training working as a substitute teaching assistant for the Ottawa Montessori School. I offer an ongoing programming, lots of arts and crafts and many age-appropriate and fun activities. I DO offer full-time care during the summer months, during March Break, Christmas Holidays, ect. I am very flexible and I enjoy working together with parents to provide the best quality childcare.

In our home, we find ANY excuse in the world to have a party. So, birthdays here are celebrated in a BIG way, and we celebrate all holidays. During the Christmas or Hoilday season, we have a wonderful Christmas party, where Santa comes and brings a special gift to each child and their siblings, and the children and I prepare a fun and wonderful concert where the kids perform some Christmas and holiday songs for their families. ALL holiday traditions are celebrated in our home, depending on the culture of the children in my childcare environment. I believe that learning about culture in our society is very important to a child's growth and development, whether it's physical, emotional, or spiritual growth. On Halloween, I offer dinner to the daycare children in my home, in order to make it easier for the families wishing to celebrate Halloween. Each holiday in celebrated with something special, and the children always look forward to these events.

The first two weeks of childcare in my home are considered a trial period. If at any point you are not satisfied with the quality of childcare offered in my home, you are free to withdraw your child from my care within 24 hours of written notice.

NEW YEARS EVE: On New Years Eve, childcare is available in my home from 4:00 pm (includes dinner) until 1:00 pm on New Years Day. This evening is planned as a great slumber party with fantastic activities throughout the evening. This option is available for children ages 5 to 12 years of age, with a maximum total of 10 children (including our own children). The younger ones are separated from the older ones at bedtime. The cost for this evening/night care is $60.00 per child. I feel no need to take advantage of parents' needs for care on this particular night, so I charge an acceptable fee and ask that all participating families bring a snack to share with the group. All children are also requested to bring a sleeping bag, pillow and any other needed items. A hot brunch will served the next day. My main reason for doing these every year? My children LOVE it! And so do their friends.

My fee for full day childcare is $40.00 a day. This included brekfast (served at 8:00am), morning snack, (served at 10:00am) lunch, (served at 12:00pm) and an afternoon snack (served at 3:30pm), all activities, craft supplies, and gifts for special occasions. Before and after school care, DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF HOURS OF CARE REQUIRED, is $20.00/day (3-5 hours), and this includes all snacks and activities. Fridays are reserved for "Treasure and Scavenger Hunting" and the kids go home with various goodies and toys that they have found. Fridays are also our "Pancake Breakfast" day, where a hot pancake breakfast including whipped cream and sprinkles, is served. All of our food and snacks are homemade, and made with healthy food and little sugar, so Fridays has become our "treat day".

SUMMER: During the summer months, I have an ongoing daycamp style programming with weekly themes and many various daily activities. (NO SWIMMING, NO POOLS but lots of water fun!) The fee for summertime care again depends on the age of the child and the number of hours required. On average , the cost is approx. $40.00 for a full day (over 6 hours). All other hours of care, including those for after-hours care, will be determined according to individual needs and will be arranged on an individual basis.

Should you have any further questions, or if you require an appointment, please feel free to contact me anytime via phone or email, and I will be happy to assist you.

Best Wished to all of you.

Danielle
Admission conditions
Must love pets. Who needs Little Ray's Reptiles, when my home is filled with them? Due to allergies, we have no dogs or cats, but we do have many other pets, such as bearded dragons, a uromastyx, birds and 2 small cornsnakes. ALL pets are incredibly friendly and vet-checked on a regular basis. Children involved in the daycare do assist with caring for the animals, if interested, and learn a lot about them.

We DO get messy here, so a change of clothes is always required, regardless of the age.

I ask that parents assist me by maintaining an open line of communication at all times, as this is the best way to assure a continuance of quality childcare.
