Hello to all!
I am a fully bilingual stay at home, non-smoking mother of three beautiful children, and I provide a warm and nurturing home away from home, as well as a Montessori-based home childcare program, that meets every child's individual needs. I have been providing childcare in my home for over 15 years , and continue to learn everyday through my own children and the children in my care. I am also a Registered Nurse, a former foster parent for the Ottawa CAS, as well as a former dance instructor for children, and Sunday School teacher. I have also worked at The Ottawa Montessori School as a substitute teaching assistant. I presently volunteer as a Girl Guide Leader, and I'm involved in organizing community activities for children to raise funds for various children's charities. I also continue to be an advocate for the prevention of child abuse and neglect, and put a lot of effort into trying to reduce this problem in our society.
Our environment at home is bright, stimulating, and yet kind, patient, respectful and peaceful in order to prevent stress and chaos in a child's environment. I am naturally very nurturing, and take a lot of pride in offering an ongoing preschool program to ensure that every child is well stimulated, and has enough to do throughout the day. Babies are held in my arms a lot, and are very stimulated, as my belief is that children need to feel warmth and caring from their caregiver in order to thrive both physically and emotionally, and have raised my own children within this belief. I am a non-smoker. I have many fun and child-friendly different and exotic animals in my home..so we are NOT a pet-free environment. ALL of our exotic pets are completely safe, but are not generally taken out during the day.
My Montessori teacher training is ongoing, and my nursing experience was specifically in labour and delivery as well as pediatrics, so children with mild medical needs are more than welcomed. Every room in my home is prepared for children.., and I love it that way! I am a spunky, fun-loving, outgoing, patient, caring and nurturing child-at-heart. I love to get down and play...be imaginative...get messy..and use my creativity.. I absolutely love it this way, and wouldn't change a thing.. :0) Although I do provide a fully bilingual childcare environment, because of the children who are presently in my care, there is presently a lot of french spoken in the home. We have a daily routine that is accomodating to each and every child's individual needs, limitations and creativity, and one that is flexible in order to allow the children to guide their own learning, and gives them the opportunity to follow their heart. I'm always available to each child in my care's individual needs for love, affection and attention. Children and babies are never left to cry...as I view crying as a child expressing a specific need, and I will acknowledge their feelings, and kindly tend to their needs, regardless of age. My dayhome is a family-oriented environment, and I have always had a great relationship with all my families. I ensure that the children in my care can have every one of their meets met, so that they may feel safe, and trust me as their caregiver, the way it is at home. These children become a part of my family, and because of the fact that I spend so much time with them, I become very attached, thus the reason why I do not provide temporary care.
I take a lot of pride in providing the very best childcare environment, in order to provide the children with a warm,nurturing, fun, and trusting home, and for the parents to have as much peace of mind as possible. I am in the process of verifying the option of having a live webcam in my home during the day, so that parents can check in on their children at any point during the day, if they wish. I just need to know that the site will be completely unaccessible to anyone but the parents, and that parents must ALL agree to having this option available, before it would be put into place.

Must love pets. Must love creativity, making a mess, being imaginative, dancing..singing..musical instruments..making crafts...learning..reading and baking. Must also love holidays because truthfully... I will find ANY excuse to have a party.
Please be aware, that my children, ages 11, 9 and 5, are schooled at home under the Montessori method of education, and therefore are with me during the day. I would never risk the health, safety and wellbeing of my children, the children in my care, and myself, by taking on more than can clearly be managed. My children's education is planned in advance, and we have plenty of time to learn new materials, as our education is not limited between the times of 8am and 3pm. I am very well organized, and find time for any and all children that need me, and in fact, I spend quality one-on-one time each and every day, with every single child. The Montessori environment is a "prepared environment", which means that each child has many opportunities to learn through play, and through their environment, according to where they are in their individual stages of development. Our entire day is about meeting the children's need for learning, which happens very naturally if the environment is appropriately prepared for them.
I am presently in the process of having my daycare licensed through a Childcare Agency. I also offer a 2 week trial period, therefore if you are not completely satisfied with my care or my environment, you are free to withdraw your child with 24 hours notice...and I also do NOT charge for any period of integration, regardless of how long it is needed for.
I do also offer extended care in the evenings or on the weekends, if my families require it.
I like to offer as much information as possible, so that parents know exactly who I am and what I am about, and I love that providing childcare in our home because it gives my children an opportunity to help out where it is appropriate, and for them to learn wonderful parenting skills from watching and learning from their mom, in hopes that they will grow up knowing how to parent their own children....and will treat them will all the love , care and respect that they all deserve. Our days are well organized, which keeps everything running smoothly, and keeps everyone happy! |
