I am a mom of two beautiful children, Nate and Ally. The decision to open my own daycare came after Ally was born. I am a certified teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and was employed for five years with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. I resigned by position with the HWDSB and decided to indefinitely postpone my professional teaching career. Instead, I have created a business that combines my love of being home with my children as well as my innate desire to inspire nurturing and learning. And so The Apple Tree Daycare began!
I believe that children thrive with positive reinforcement and encouragement. My daily approach emphasizes teaching empathy and respect for others. I do not prescribe to centering out children in “time-outs”. Instead, I prefer to use opportunities as teachable moments for the children to learn as a group.
Ultimately, my goal is to build a day filled with happiness and growth for your child. Nothing can replace home but I strive to create a comfortable, loving and nurturing environment so that you are able to feel good about leaving your child in my care for the day and have a productive day at work.
Admission conditions
The Apple Tree caters to the summer break of teachers by allowing parents to retain a spot while being home with their children. There is no charge during summer break. I am paid for all statutory, board holidays and inclement weather days from September to June. The daycare does not close during the school year for personal vacation time, appointments or illness as I do have two alternate care providers to cover any such absences when need be.
Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
