I have 2 spaces Mon to Thurs for children 12 months or older. Start dates for Oct 2020.
I graduated from the University of Guelph with an Honors B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Child Studies. I completed my Early Childhood Education Diploma from Sheridan College. I am trained in First Aid and Infant/Child CPR and I have a current Police check. I am the mother of two children who are in both at University. I worked in Daycare centers from 1995 until 2000. Once I had my own children I opened my daycare and have been operating it since April 2001.
We have a daily schedule that we follow however we are flexible to the flow of the day too. I believe children learn through play and exploration. I have a large selection of toys that I regularly change to maintain the children's interest. We do crafts using a variety of mediums like painting, colouring, cutting and pasting. We have circle time were we learn about calendar, seasons, our letters and numbers plus many other cognitive activities. We will work on different age appropriate skills that young children need before going to school. This would include educational activities as well as daily practical skills like dressing and bathroom skills. During the warmer weather we head outside in the morning for an hour or more to get some exercise and fresh air. During the cold or rainy weather it is less often but we crawl through the tunnel and dance around to music instead, everyone has quiet time in the afternoon. I provide healthy snacks and meals that appeal to the picky eaters.
Children in my care become part large loving family where they are nurtured and feel safe to express themselves and develop at there individual pace. They look forward to seeing their friends and playing each day.
We do have 2 cats in the house.
