Attentive, ask questions and take notes with the parents.
Continually assess the environment where child plays. I make sure that there are no sharp objects, potentially toxic substances, or very small objects if the child is a preschooler or infant.Keep the child away from anything that might do him harm. I know how to divert and absorb the children in activities.Understanding the needs of the child and enforcing discipline accordingly. Correctly responding to an emergency.Implementing your rules and plans for the children. Keep the kids safe and entertained in fun ways that do not always include watching TV or movies.
Ability to multitask and manage their time well. To feed the children and get them in to bed .
I make sure:
Phone rules (are the kids allowed to make phone calls? Are you allowed to speak on the phone when the kids are asleep?)
Playmates (if the child down the street asks to come in and play, can she?)
Tv/Computer restrictions (is the child allowed on the computer or allowed to watch television? If so, how long? Are they not allowed to be on certain sites?)
Medication (do they get medicine, how to you give it to them, and when and how much?)what are they allergic to? what should you do if they have an allergic reaction?)
No inappropriate touching, looking, whatever.
Change diapers when needed.when in doubt about the child's behavior, call parents.Possibly give baths and/or brush teeth
Clean up messes that kids make or have kids pick up toys
Change kid's clothes if dirty.
Solve any conflicts that may arise
Reassure parents when they call
Keep kids occupied and out of trouble
Do my job to the best of my ability.
