Nancy’s Home Daycare
Keeping little minds and bodies busy!
Hello Parents!
I am a mother of four grown children and have been providing quality childcare in my home for the past 20+ years. I enjoy my role helping children learn and grow physically, socially and intellectually.
- I believe that children need structure and routine in order to feel secure in their environment, which also helps them to develop good behaviour patterns
- I believe a child needs stimulation and variety to encourage interest and learning about the world around them, and to prepare them for their eventual entry to school
- I believe a child needs to feel loved and secure, and have the opportunity to play with other children in order to develop good social skills
I continually try to provide the children with a well balanced day: active and quiet play, indoor and outdoor activity, as well as structured and unstructured free play time. Depending on the ages & stages of the children, we go on various outings to playgroups, parks, gym time, and special events sponsored by The Child Care Providers Resource Network. It’s important to keep little minds and bodies busy!
I use bi-weekly themes (i.e. Transportation, dinosaurs, bugs & butterflies, farm animals, snowmen) for our stories, crafts and Circletimes to enhance learning and provide continuity for the children.
As this is a home daycare, I use my whole house. We spend most of our time on the main floor, so we have a bright, sunny environment. We use the kitchen for meals, crafts, tabletop activities, and we play in both the family room and downstairs playroom, where toys are rotated regularly in order to keep the children stimulated. As well, I have a very large fenced yard with a large play structure, several smaller climbers, slides, and lots of toys, where the children get fresh air and exercise each day and learn to lead an active lifestyle!
I provide daily journals (and often photos, too!) for parents via email to keep you informed about your child’s day. The link between home and daycare is important for families and the journal helps to facilitate conversation at home between parents and toddlers.
A nutritious lunch and 2 snacks are provided based on the Canada Food Guide.
