Hello Parents!!!!
My name is Melissa and I run an established private day home in Mount Pleasant. This is conveniently located 10 min from downtown, 16AVE, Deerfoot Trail and Edmonton Trail.
Prior to opening my dayhome I was a nanny for two years, coached synchronized swimming at the YMCA to girls of all ages for five years, babysat frequently ad worked with children at every opportunity. I now have a 2 and a half year old.
I have completed courses in child psychology, developmental psychology, basic psychology, teaching children and First aid.
I believe parents should be able to voice what types of activities there children are involved in while in care. Each month I create a new "theme" which focuses on the developmental and emotional stage of every age, while learning about a new topic. I contact each parent to see if there is anything specific they would like to work on with their child that month.
I email each parent a newsletter every month that includes: A menu of meals and snacks kids will enjoy, the crafts, coloring and painting they will be doing, the baking, and types of books we will be reading. I also include a breakdown of the monthly theme and what and how their child will learn.
Our days include: Arts and Crafts, Rhymes, Coloring and Painting, Baking, Stories, Outside/Indoor Play, Structured learning, Free time, Blocks,Music and Dancing.
For preschool age children I have created a program to help them be prepared for school as well.
