My name is Avegail Vilela and I have 19 years experience as an Early Childhood educator. I received my ECE diploma in 1996 from George Brown College. As the head room teacher at Beaches Child Care Centre, I learned the proficiency to assess children’s different learning abilities. I excelled at teaching, at my next job after Beaches I was promoted as an assistant supervisor at Little Tot’s Manor. Besides the responsibility of an assistant supervisor, I also organized and designed an entire JK curriculum for the Junior Kindergarten classroom. I then moved into a Supervisor position for an entire Children’s Centre by the name of JingBao Bilingual Children’s Centre. I learned to deal with children who could only speak Chinese, and I was able to aid many children in learning to speak English, while maintaining the professional day to day operations of the entire centre. Following JingBao I continued supervising in the Leaside area at Bessborough Child Care Centre. There I was challenged further with more children and more daily activities and responsibilities. Again, I excelled at helping to develop young children, aiding them towards elementary school and life. Throughout my years as an educator I have learned how to evaluate strengths and weaknesses for a wide range of children. Understanding how to evaluate children is important when focusing on the needs of children and what they need to flourish and grow. I have opened a home child care centre, so that I can provide a safe, quality child care for parents who need to work. I have my vulnerable police check, police criminal check and updated first aid training and CPR for infants and children. I am also a certified member with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
My program is based on my 3 E’s of play. Explore, Experience, and Enrich.
