TEACHERS WELCOME!
Looking for an experienced, responsible and energetic Registered Early Childhood Educator to care for your children before and/or after school? Look no further!
I'm Jen - a registered Early Childhood Educator (graduated with honours in 2004) and mom to three boys (6, 8 and 10). I have successfully operated my private home child care program since leaving my position as a Head Teacher in a large child care center 10 years ago!
Please note that my before and after school program operates only during the school year, which offers the perfect solution to families who are employed by a school board, take extended summer vacations or have back up child care options during March Break, July & August. I do not charge to hold your spot over the summer break and am open full days (7-4:30) during school PD days, as well as "Snow Days" (bus cancellations) with no extra charge :)
My before and after school program is designed with each child's physical, cognitive, social development and personal interests in mind. Located on a quiet circle in Fairwinds West, I offer plenty of space and opportunities to learn and play. A typical day includes time spent outside, healthy snacks and a fun STEAM activity (science, technology, engineering, art and/or math) - which are based on the children's interests! We also enjoy socializing while playing board games, card games and we like to listen to age-appropriate music, too. The children are asked to contribute their own ideas often, and one year they wanted to start a Homework Club. In doing so, the children regularly completed most, if not all of their homework before their parents picked them up!
In order to help facilitate and maintain a sense of community, the children and I brainstorm our healthy morning and afternoon snacks together (as well as lunches on full days). We even create our weekly menu and shopping list together! Afternoon snacks are often prepared by with the help of the children - whether it's baking muffins and mini pizzas or cutting up veggies and cheese to have with crackers. There are always plenty of opportunities for collaboration, sharing and turn-taking in our program!
Please note that at this time I only accept children attending St. Stephen Catholic School in order to facilitate just 1 morning and 1 afternoon bus drop off/pick up per day. Thank you for your understanding!

I am located in the Maplegrove/Santolina area of Fairwinds West and operate during the school year only (I follow the Ottawa Catholic School Year Calendar). I am closed (without pay) during July & August, as well as during the March Break (also without pay). I am open during PD Days and when buses are cancelled ("Snow Days") at no extra charge. School age children in my program must be currently enrolled at St. Stephen Catholic School. Have more than 1 child needing care? Siblings save 10% off their combined daily rate. :)
Petals, our friendly, hypoallergenic dog (a maltese-shitzhu mix) spends most of her day napping and rarely joins in on the fun. |
