I can imagine how heart breaking it must be to leave your children to go to work. But that’s part of parenting; you do what you need to do to provide for your family. If I were to summarize what my goal is with my home daycare, I would say that I basically want my home to be the kind of daycare - and to provide the type of care - that I would have been looking for if I had gone back to work myself after having kids. I certainly wouldn’t leave my kids with just anyone either!
Because I have experience with toddlers and babies, I know how important it is to provide a child-proof space that fosters the need for the kids to explore without hurting themselves. Our drawers are all child-proofed, the stairs have gates on them, the plugs have covers and no medicines or any other dangerous items are left out in places where the kids could reach.
I have first aid training. I also have my criminal records check done. Our home is smoke-free and pet-free as well! Take a look through the pictures at http://daycaregloria.tumblr.com/ to get an idea of our space. The play room is on the main floor and is nice and bright with gorgeous bay windows.
I currently have an opening for anyone needing care on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I maintain a low ratio of children to adults and will never have more than 4 children in my care at any time.
Please get in touch if you'd like some more information. All the best with your search for a childcare provider! :)
