I am a stay at home mom who has been providing care for children in my home since 2001. I have a degree in psychology and I am trained in first aid and CPR. I am able to do drop off and pick up at either Frenchmans Bay PS or William Dunbar PS in the Pickering area and have full and part-time spaces available for children 2 and up.
I offer a warm, inviting and friendly environment and continually encourage each child to develop both intellectually and emotionally at their own pace. I emphasize good social skills stressing appropriate behavior, manners and self-help skills with a particular focous on kindergarten readiness for the little ones.
Our days are scheduled around a daily activity or outing which include but are not limited to Ontario Early Year, library or community programms. Bi-weekly themes are covered and our in home activities include creative art, language arts, music, listening skills, science, math, cognitive skills and creative movements. School readiness activities are applied to pre-k children and school aged children get activities relevant to current in school units.
I provide a snack which consists of two food-groups in the morning, a nutritionally balanced lunch, and a three food-group snack in the afternoon. Weather permitting we spend a great deal of time (when homework is completed) in the afternoons outdoors at local parks or simply outside in the crescent riding bikes and trikes and playing a variety of sports.
