The Lily Pad is committed to nurturing your child's emotional, intellectual, physical, social and moral development in a caring and stable environment. As a home based daycare, your child will benefit from socially interacting with up to six other friends in a more intimate environment.
EXPERIENCE:
I am the eldest in a family of five children and my strength has always been taking care of others. My greatest accomplishment are my two children who remind me everyday that the meaning of life is appreciating it through their eyes. My son Tai is a thoughtful, old soul trapped in a 4 year old body. My 1.5 year old daughter Kaiya is an energetic, wild child full of curiosity that gets her into more harm than good. I understand your challenging yet always rewarding journey of parenting because I am experiencing it too.
I have my Family Child Care Certification, Foodsafe Certification and am also First Aid Ceritified with Standard First Aid (SFA), Emergency First Aid (EFA), and CPR2 training.
We are currently in the process of obtaining official licensing.
CURRICULUM:
I am a strong believer in learning through play. I provide a daily routine, filled with both structured activities and unstructured play which focusses on self expression and creation.
Creative Play: Arts & crafts using paints, crayons, markers, scissors, glue, tape, stickers and paper
Sensory Play: Sand, water, rice, playdoh
Dramatic Play: Dress up clothes, housekeeping area, kitchen area, castle area
Manipulative/Construction Play: Lego, Megblocks, Tinker Toys, puzzles, wood blocks
Gross Motor Play: A fenced yard that backs onto Woodwards Elementary School playground, tricycles and ride-ons, balls, hockey sticks, basketball hoop, sprinlker and inflatable pool (summer months)
Circle and Story Time: A time for songs, movement activities, science experiments, language games, stories, books, puppets
FACILITIES:
Location: On a quiet street in the Ironwood neighborhood (bounded by Shell Road & No. 4 Road and Williams Road and Steveston Highway) with easy access to Highway 99 and George Massey Tunnel.
The "Indoor" Lily Pad: Approximately 350 square feet of dedicated indoor play space packed with a diverse selection of toys, a dedicated nap room, a dedicated bathroom and access to a 143 square feet kitchen and covered patio (on nice days) for meals.
The "Outdoor" Lily Pad: A beautifully landscaped and private large, fenced backyard that boasts a generous paved area for ride-ons/tricycles/basketball play, a grassy area for romping, a sandy area for digging and gardens for growing. Because the home backs onto Daniel Woodward Elementary, the children have easy and safe access to the school playground for expanded outdoor play.
