I have been running a home daycare for over 20 years. I am very fortunate to have a job that is so rewarding and gratifying. My daycare program is art and music based. We sing, dance and paint every day and end the year with a fabulous art show. At our daycare we nurture the power of each child’s imagination through free play, dramatic arts, story time and cooperative activities. Each week we are on an adventure learning about dinosaurs, galaxies or life under the sea.
Currently, I have had the same families with me for the past 5 years and we have definitely become a daycare family. I provide 2 nutritious snacks and a hot lunch. My home is located near 2 parks and a library. My backyard is fenced in and has little tikes bikes and other outdoor toys. Indoors there is an area that is used solely for the daycare that is equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, play area and tv area.
Here is a sample of our daily schedule:
Preschool Program
7:30-8:30: Morning arrivals
8:45-9:15: Morning snack ( don’t worry if your children misses breakfast at home, they will be offered a variety of cereal, yogurt, muffin, bagel with cream cheese, fruit, cheeses, milk/juice, etc.)
9:15-9:45: Music Circle (we have a regular set of songs we sing each day as well as new songs incorporated from our theme of the week. There will also be use of musical instruments, marching, dance and dramatic arts during this time) Calendar, weather chart, days of the week and name recognition will also be incorporated during music circle.
9:45-10:15: Young Artists (different art styles and techniques will be explored. Each child will be encouraged to express their individual creativity while mastering the use of different art tools)
10:15-10:30: Story Time Corner (we will be reading books pertaining to our theme and the children will also have the opportunity to pick a book to read quietly, listening to soothing background music)
10:30-11:15: Outdoor Play (backyard fun, bike riding on the sidewalk, park, library) If there is inclement weather the children will remain indoors and have free play (blocks, puzzles, kitchen, tool work shop, etc.)
11:30-12:15: Lunch (children will be served a hot nutritious lunch along with fruit/veg, milk/juice)
12:30-2:30: Quiet time/nap time (children who do not nap may watch a movie, read or do a quiet activity)
2:30-3:30: Wake up time, snack time
3:30-5:00: Outdoor play/Indoor free play……child pickup time. See you tomorrow! |
