Moving a Licensed Daycare. Help Please

I am a licensed daycare that is moving to a bigger space. Does anyone know how things work when you move? I am in BC and to get licensed the first time took 3 months so I am terrified I will have to lose my families while I wait for licensing to visit. Has anyone else been through a move with a licensed daycare? How did it go? Is a renewal the same process?

Oh tough one - are you with an agency or in BC do they license the home provider directly?

We are licensed under the government- the assisted living act and the fraser health authority...they screen the provider and the space. not sure if that answers your question or not

You should call them directly and ask all the questions because we won't be able to help you unfortunately. Never wonder, always ask! I'm sure they will be happy to answer all your questions at the government and you will know exactly what you have to do.

Ya I agree with Momof4 - unless there is someone in BC who can weigh in on the been there done that - best to call.

Cause in Ontario it is the 'agency' that is licensed by the Government not the provider or their home ....the agency deals with the Ministry and than contracts the providers to do the service... so the agency comes out to screen you and your property initially to make sure you are 'suitable and meet Day Nursery requirements and they come once a month for spot checks and so forth ... so with an agency it would be easier to move because you could talk to your coordinator about it and show photos of the house and so forth - have them come view any property you are putting an offer in on and than just notify the clients that a relocation will be occurring when the new home passes inspection since YOU have already passed inspection and so forth...the most disruption in service is however long it would take you to pack up and move and unpack and arrange to have your coordinator come and do that months health and safety inspection.
