Just in case anyone is having a boring day ( ha ha, not likely!), please feel free to send me your favorite girls names! We're starting to panic here as we have a week to go and every name makes me sick, ha ha! Especially the ones hubby suggests, which all sound like porn names!!! HELP!!!!

Do you have any other children? What are their names if you don't mind sharing? That may give us an idea of the types of names you do like (ie. classic names, different names, etc...).

I tend to like different names for the most part, but I am kinda all over. My favourite girls names right now are:
Summer, Camille, Zoe, Liv, Lily, Jasmine and Campbell.

Try to remember that if you choose an oddly spelt name your child will spend a lifetime correcting people ...... Like if you choose Ashley but spell it Ashleigh she will have to spell her name to everyone her whole life ..... Also an unusual or oddly spelt name will be next to impossible to find on a pencil/ toothbrush/ Xmas decoration/ whatever and while that may sound trivial to us it's not to a child..... I tend to like the basic names ...

**Waves her Unique Name Flag.**

I love unique names. I have a unique name and it never bothered me that I had to spell it for people. People always said they liked it and how different/ pretty it was.

I live on a street with two teachers and they have a heck of a time naming their kids because they both said that they want their kids to have 'different' names. They find it frustrating that they get a Sarah H or a Sarah L in their class and have to add last initials on to these kids to differentiate them.

I always figure my kid was unique so they would get a unique name. My kids each have different names and love them too and always get lots of compliments.

of course it has to be something YOU and your partner are excited about though

Good luck and safe delivering

Haha Crayola, I like your example of name! I do spell my name for people if it is for something important, but most times, I just let them spell it however. It does not bother me. What bothers me and my sister (Lauryn) is when people spell our names wrong when they have it written right in front of them (ie. posting a message on our fb page and spelling our name wrong! lol)

I agree with you Spixie. My own two kids have different names (my boy more so than my girl) but I love their names and can't see them being named anything different.

The thing now is that the common names aren't common any more .... When was the last time you child came home from school and said " my friend Elizabeth / Lisa/ Jessica/ nicole/Amy wants to come play". If you have a young child probably never ...Now it's ava, Madison, kindry, avery, sierra, trinity.... So most of the old common names aren't common so you wouldn't hear them much .... With that being said some of the really old names are coming back and being over used Amelia, Ella, grace, Olivia and I think Sarah has never gone out of style ....I think picking your child's name is one of the hardest things to do.... I wish you all the luck with the birth of your child and maybe when you see her the name will just come to you .... Cheers ; )

WOW.... Thanks everyone! I've had a terrible time naming all our children. I was also a teacher and every name reminds me of some horrible brat ha ha! We like traditional, but not old lady names, with standard spellings. We have an Emily, Claire and Michelle. Boring to many I'm sure but that's what we like. Like Spixie said, I don't like names that everyone in the class has. Although Emily is quite popular, we don't know any in our area! Thanks again, I think I've read every name book and web listing and am just seeing the same things over and over so nice to have suggestions from non family members!

That's what these two teachers on my street said too but I didn';t want to scare you by saying it - lol

i know what you mean about the names reminding you of someone. It took me and my husband 8 1/2 months to find a name for my son. My husband also tries to find something that rhymes with the name that could be used on the playground lol Here are some names that I really like

Callie
Cobie
Ellie
Ella
Ella May
Kristin
Maggie
Holly
Molly
Hannah
Lulu - this is more of a nick name but I LOVE it lol
Morgan

You could try coming up with an original name using letters from your and your husband's names. Sounds pretentious, but you could some up with something original and beautiful. Or you could try finding a last name that could used as a first name.

I thought of another one .... Willow ..... I know ... I said I liked plain names but I do think that is pretty ... And I do like Ainsley and Addison and Andrea ..... My husband did the same thing .. If he could rhyme or make fun of the name out the window it would go....He knows a lot of rhymes !!!!! My favorite boy name is Steven but he knew someone with that name that he didn't particularly like so it remained unused. Of all the names you mentioned above my favorite is Kristen ; )

Oh wow, really pretty names! I heard a Mom on the bus calling her child Willow about a month ago, and another one called her child Echo. I was thinking, hey man, we're back in the 60's!!

I have a current daycare Mom who just named her baby daughter Sloane and an ex-client who still visits often who just had a baby daughter and named her Scarlett. Those are both pretty and different.

Current names of children I have in both businesses:
Hayden, Ainsleigh, Jaimee, Avery, Quentin, Ashlyn, Ryann (a girl), Addison, Hailey, Grace, Jaime, Payton, Sadie, Maura, Lucy, Jordan, Elisha, Dannica (Dannika, Danica - so many ways to spell), Kathleen, Michaela, Sabrina, Kayla, Baylee (again, different ways to spell her name too), Jillian, Georgia (she's so cute!).

It's hard here too, because I teach, and hubby's a teacher. We're going to have a horrible time once we need to decide! lol

Good luck!
