I've had a crock pot for over 4 years now and only used it twice! :o

I'd love to use it more often for dinner BUT I have some issues.....DH can't have any dairy and it's seem like ALL the one-dish meals are with a cream-of-something in them. We're big meat eaters and I guess doing ribs, chicken porkchops and then making sides isn't sooooo bad :p but I'd love to have some great one-dishers up my sleve.

I tried a few websites and didn't find much that didn't have dairy....

Any help? Thanks!

Darn...my best crock-pot recipe is dairy based...scalloped potato/broccoli/ham. Okay, so what about chili, stews, soups? Found this (thank goodness for Google) http://www.yummly.com/recipes/dairy-free-crock-pot

I love the idea of my crock pot... but hate the cleanup! I find that the worse so I stopped using mine.

Besides chili and stews most crock pot recipes have some sort of cream in them .....try google like dream said . I use mine more for putting a chicken or pork roast in with the around.

I always spray mine with cooking spray first...seems to work:)

When I'm really ambitious I like to prep a bunch of crockpot meals ahead of time in the large ziplock bags...so all I have to do is pull one out of the freezer and poop...lmao...jeez can tell I'm a home daycare provider...poop on the brain...anywho...fre ezer to crockpot & voila!

Mostly I use mine for beef putting the potatoes and carrots on the bottom and the roast or stewing beef or steak(cut into chunks) on the top along with some onions.

I either spray the crockpot dish or rub with vegetable oil before using and that helps with cleanup. Basically we eat, I put all the leftovers in the fridge and then the crock bowl that removes in the sink with hot water and dishsoap in it. Rarely is it not ready to wash out later in the night.

I do find if you cook longer on low that the food around the edges doesn't get as well done or stick as compared to a shorter time on high.

Whenever I am looking recipes without a certain ingredient I often look at sites aimed at people with allergies. So for dairy anyone on a vegetarian diet may also be dairy free so a good option to google.

One of the yahoo groups I belong to has a lady that did all her meals in the crockpot because she didn't have a kitchen in the basement so she made and froze stuff and then put it in crockpots to heat to serve for lunch and then did the same to cook for the afternoon so her dinner was ready as soon as daycare was done. She also used to have a small serving crockpot she used to make her own lunch if it was different than for the daycare. Here is a link to some of her recipes:

I never use recipes. I raised 4 children on a small income so I learned to look in the fridge and get out all the produce and make something out of it. So I'm a dumper, haha.

Chicken, beef, or pork - add in carrots, celery, potatoes, onions - herbs, garlic, pepper, paprika - barley or egg noodles or orzo pasta - fill 1/2 way with beef or chicken or veggie broth - SIMPLE!
