Hello everyone,

At my drop off today I had a dad dropping off his son and daughter. The boy was upset and was screaming and trying to grab at dad as he headed for the door. Dad goes and picks him up and then tells him ( I am about a foot away) 'you are stuck here until I can come back'.

Just wondering how you would react to that? I am not impressed and not sure what to do about it....

I wouldn't stress about it. The boy may have been driving the father crazy before drop off. The father probably meant his boy is stuck with your rules and regualtions.
I know there are days I just want to call my neighbour and say "come take my daughter now!!" We all know DCK act different with us in comparison to how they act with DCPs.

I wouldn't worry about it either. Sounds like something a dad would say. :)

What a tool! How rude! I don't stand still when people are rude. I'm afraid I would have said 'EXCUSE ME?' You are too nice and when you are too nice people walk all over you. I know that for sure because I was walked on my whole life. However, I am confident in my abilities as a daycare provider and I know if anybody treats me badly they can and will be replaced. You deserve better so demand better, ok?

He's a dad....a dumb-dumb

Of all the dad's I know only 3 I can list who are better at it than the MOMS!! the rest...you shake your head at 90% of the time.

ha ha ! the others responses are PRICELESS!!! that is true though, Dad's dont think!! wait MEN dont think about what they say before or after they say it! It did seem like a bit of an insult though, but thats more because we women are sensitive, I'm sure he didnt mean anything toward you, although......doesnt send a very positive meassage to the child. (He is "stuck" with you.) :)

I have one parent that asks me what the "damage" is for the week when they go to pay me... or they'll send me a text that says "what's the ransom" etc. Just things people say. Maybe he has a strange sense of humour. Play it up. "yup... you're stuck with me today! Today you get to wash the windows" lol

I would make my point in a passive aggressive way. I would go down to the child's level and say "Say "no way Dad"! I'm not stuck here, that's not a good message! I come here to have fun and learn!" In a caregiver to young child voice :)
