View Full Version : Is it usually worth it to hold spots?

Hi,

I'm opening a daycare in a couple months and have had very little interest, but there is a lady who wants a part-time spot a month or 2 after I open. I'm afraid to let her go and also afraid to shoot myself in the foot by accepting a part-time client when there's still time to find a full-timer!

Any thoughts on a good policy for this situation?

Thanks!

If I'm holding a space I charge a holding fee. Some people charge full fees or half fees, but I charge $200/month to hold the space, plus the initial deposit and the signed contracts so it's all legal. I would also include a special clause in this case that none of the fees paid prior to care actually beginning are refundable for any reason.

I charge a $250/month holding fee plus the deposit and yes it is all non refundable should they want to back out.
