View Full Version : Strange question about diaper wipes....

In organizing my change area, I'm wondering how you all handle the issue of diaper wipes. Do you get the parents to bring them? Do you then store them all separately so you make sure you are only using the wipes that actually belong to that child? I think it would be much easier if I just bought the ones I like and use one box for everyone, rather than trying to keep each child's separate. Just curious. I usually buy a big box of them at Costco because I also use them in my scrapbooking. I'm thinking the cost is probably minimal, and I would just deduct them as a business expense anyway. What do the rest of you do?

I have the parents supply them and yes, I keep them all separate in labelled wipes boxes. The cost could add up if you have a few kids in diapers (I have all 5 in diapers!!!) and especially if you have some of the type of super poopers I seem to always have...hahaha! Another way you could do it if you want to use just one box is to have the parents pay into a wipes fund or ask each of them to supply a big bag every few months. I do see your point about it being easier though and I hate the scented kind...I just ask parents to get unscented if they don't already as the scent bothers me.

I have change cubbies built into my change table-each cubby has the child's diaper changing things including their wipes.

I let the parents but these and then put them on the shelf next to my changing area. Reason being each parent has thier own brand, and sometimes children have sensitivities.

I do not keep them separate, in the VERY begining years ago I attempted with child name on each but found not only was that too many wipe containers in one spot but just too much to keep track of. I do purchase then when they are needed and also put up a note every so often or send a text to parents, asking for a fresh supply. they are always happy to help. and do have the few parents who bring them in every so often with out being asked. only once...I had a mom who traveled about 4 hours away to purchase a specific brand of wipe and asked that only her son use them! she was a pain in my a%$! thankfully she is gone now, but thats another post alltogether. if I were you I would have "community" wipes and just ask parents to bring a pack once every month or two, so much easier! :)
Yes, I have the parents supply the wipes and they are individually labelled in their diaper cubbies :)

I have three different rooms that I use wupes - main playroom, livingroom and kitchen. Each family is asked to supply their wipes - I have three kids. I have a pack of wipes in the basement, a pack in the kitchen and a pack in the livingroom. So it works! I never seem to run out - parents just randomly bring them, I rarely have to ask. I find this easier than always carrying wipes up and down the stairs. What I used to do before (when my daycare was smaller and we only used the livingroom) was use child A's wipes, then child B's wipes and then my son's wipes. And then when my son's wipes were almost up, I would ask the parents for more wipes. But then I found that I was using the dck's wipes on the weekends. So, my son's wipes are the one in the livingroom.
I sounds confusing and if you asked me, I couldn't tell you who's was who's but I always seem to have wipes, and I don't seem to ever really need to ask my families for them either. Works out!

I have the parents supply them and use the right one on the right bum. I've thought about supplying my own, but if I have parents willing to bring them then it's no skin off my nose which ones I use. I keep a pack of my own around as well so I have one in the dining room. I use them to wipe down the dog sometimes.

I provide the wipes unless a child requires a specific brand and then that is up to the parent since I won't promise what I will use. I just have one container and use as needed. I removed a wipe before I start and two if I know there is a poop. Generally that is enough so I don't go back into the case except rarely.
I used to do separate ones and used the travel containers and filled them weekly from a master supply which I bought. That worked well since they were in their bin (empty square ice cream container) with their change mat and any cream the parent has supplied.
I have 5 in diapers and have a bucket that I bought from the dollar store for each of them that I fill up every few days- in the bucket is diapers/cream or powder and wipes that the parents provide them all. The buckets are big enough to hold everything and small enough to all fit on a shelf
I bought the wipes container for each little one and put them name on the wipe container and their bucket.
I have my own wipes- the Costco brand that I love too for myself that I pack up for daily trips and or outside when we have snack. I end up using my own some times when parents are late bringing me wipes after a few reminders ;)

I am a little bit of both to be honest ... I ask that parents provide wipes for diapering along with the diapers and cream and I keep them in a labelled basket with a change of clothes and so forth in the playroom ... I also keep a couple labelled diapers for each kid and wipe pack that I provide in a basket for on my main floor as well as in the stroller should someone need a change and I do not want to run downstairs or back in the house to get wipes from their 'personal store' ... this also allows me to have wipes handy out and about for wiping faces or noses or hands or bird poop off a climber ;)

I have one of those drawer towers (5 drawers ) each child a their own labeled drawer with wipes, diaper creams, diapers (one weeks worth), and spare clothing. So when I have to change a diaper it's all right there in the drawer. It's all separate and I don't have to worry about mix ups. Since my families bring me diapers and wipes by the case I keep all the extras in a storage room off my daycare.

I have a large supply at the dining room table that I buy for cleaning the children after meals, and for the ones who are too small to wash their hands before eating. But this is a tax writeoff for me.
It depends on how many babies I have in care. If I have 4 or 5 at a time I get all the parents to send a refill package at the same time and I use one communal plastic container and when the refill packs are gone I ask all the parents to send another. Right now I have 3 in diapers and one child uses the natural type wipes and the others use popular brand names so they all have their own containers in my cupboard and it isn't so bad with just 3.
I have a 6 foot cupboard with shelves so it is for toys on the bottom 3 shelves and the top 2 shelves have the diapers, wipes, extra clothing, receipt books and log books for each child.

I too have the parents supply all their own diapers and wipes but I HATE papmers wipes!! they don't wipe well and leave a greasy-gooey feeling afterwards...I love their diapers though.
One parent likes these and it irks me to no end to use them...so I'm tempted to just use my DD's wipes but it's not cost friendly to me to do so..
I do not seperate wipes per child. When I feel it is some ones turn to provide wipes then I request them from the parent next on the list. I am always a couple of packs ahead of running out.

I have 2 kids in diapers and both use the same brand. I rotate days - day 1 we use dcb's wipes, day 2 we use dcg's girls. That way I'm only carrying one package around with me in the diaper bag if we go anywhere and if we're home I only need to have one package on my bathroom counter. I have a large counter that I have a change pad on and every night I take the wipes diapers etc and put them under the sink, then bring out what I need in the morning at first diaper change.

I have one of the 5 drawer towers too that stands beside my change table ( which is an old desk I made a pad for and cover with a small quilt). I only store the diapers in there for each child and they can hold a lot. I printed name cards and taped to the inside of each drawer for easy identification.
My change table is just outside the small bathroom on main floor. We put shelves on the wall above the toilet and I have the change bins on those along with the container of wipes. When it is change time I take their bin, the wipes out to the change table and return them to the bathroom when I wash my hands. The bins are square ice cream pails and have a change mat, diaper cream in them and masking tape name labels on the bins.
To make it look more uniform I have bins higher up on the shelves too that have some of my own things stored such as extra toothpaste bought on sale, a couple spare rolls of toilet paper in one, and when my son was home he had a bin with his contact lens stuff, etc.
I never worried too much about hiding stuff since it is in use all the time anyways. One of the bins belongs to my daughter although she no longer fits on the change table and I use two of those large foam squares on the floor to make a change surface.
I love those five drawer towers and yes got them at CTC when they were half price. I have one beside my desk with each drawer set up for one with daycare notes in one, my felt business in another - basically it allows me to keep a somewhat cleared desk since I can just pop pieces of paper in the drawers related to subject - top drawer is other, lol as in what doesn't belong other places.

They have both an 8 drawer and a 6 drawer on sale right now. I went to the store for the 6 drawer in the flyer and found the 8 drawer for 5 dollars more and bought that instead. I use it for craft supplies.

I didn't see the flyer, I just went online and searched for the sale items. Strangely, the 6 drawer one didn't even come up. I have had the 8 drawer one for several years for scrapbooking supplies, and it works very well.

I looked at it again and the one in the picture is two of the deep drawers and four of the shallow drawers.... I prefer the one with all deep drawers as I have them stuffed as it is .
