Hello everyone,

My first post!

I was wondering how to deal with parents (ie. Teachers) who want full-time only during the school year.
Do you charge to hold a spot come September? If so, how much?
Or do you put them on a waiting list?

Thanks,

Sam

I charge more from September to June ($225 a week instead of regular $200). Then in the summer they may come one day a week (day of my choosing) at no cost. Other days they pay daily rate. What this does is pays me for the summer spread out over the 10 months. Come June they pay a two week deposit for the following Sept (non refundable) to hold their space. If they don't pay the deposit then I have been paid for two months of care while I replace for Sept.

If they choose to only pay the regular fee then the contract is signed as being in effect from Sept to June and I start advertising in April to fill for July 1.

I love that! I haven't had any interest from teachers. However, it's nice to have a good model in case I do. I love the 1 day a week in the summer of my choosing. Fantastic! Thank you for sharing that.

I actually don't give any special deal to teachers...if they want the spot for September they ahve to pay full fees during the summer and use the space as they wish. I just can't afford to take that hit in my income over summer. If you don't "need" the money and want a lighter load in the summer then you could consider it, but otherwise calculate how much money you will lose for nothing.

I have always been lucky enough to have the spot taken up for all year care by two dif kids. example: teachers kid doesnt come during summer but school age kid does, so he takes his place for those three months. however, it is smart to have a deposit in place for the child who will return come fall. :)
