A friend of mine has decided to start a daycare forum of her own. She didn't like posting on a public forum and thought others might feel the same way. She asked if I could put up some posts to let others know about her new forum. She is still in the process of working out all the bugs and adding things in but is accepting registations. It is a private forum where she has to approve the memberships to be assured it's only providers who are on the forum. Anyway, just thought I'd post it for her, so far I'm the only member there :)

That's weird, the link works for me. As for the email address, not sure what's up with that do you have another one you can use?. I also just wanted to say to make sure you send an additional email to the Admin (email is on the main registration when you "agree to the terms"). You can also send her an email if you're having issues registering. She won't register anyone who hasn't sent an email with an ad or website proving they are a provider.

Make sure you send her an email to get approved. That's important for her. She wants to keep it a safe and secure place for providers only. You can email her after you register at thedaycareroom@gmail .com

For those having troubles ~ I have used the formation forums in the past and because they are 'free' and on a shared server with a bazilllion other 'free' forums they can be 'temperamental' if too many people are trying to access the URL the system gets overloaded and it will come up an error .... just keep trying and eventually it should open!

Also if you are POSTING on a formation forum and you are long winded like me my advice is to type your reply to any post in WORD and than copy and paste onto the forum and hit send ... the formation forums freeze a lot and posts get 'lost' and there is nothing worse than typing out a thoughtful reply to someone and cyberspace eating it ;)

Thanks fruitloop, I've registered and will send an email with my website info. Is this administrator someone we know well?

Fruitloop, if you feel comfortable, could you put in a referral for me. I have been trying to email the admin with my ad and it keeps bouncing back. No worries if you prefer not to. :)

Sure. If anyone else is having issues emailing, let me know here and I'll let her know who has replied. :)

Is anyone else having issues with this site? I can't access it this morning. Not sure if it's just me or what. I'm going to send her a text later to see what's up?

Hhmmm, seems to be working now. Man was she mad when she couldn't get on the site. So mad she was ready to just not do it and ended up asking me to make another forum and take over. Yikes  Anyway, all seems to be good now. I need to try and get over there to make some posts now :)

Can I put in a word here? First off, I think the more private daycare forums the better. BUT.......when you use a "free" site like forumotion google still has the ability to bot the site so don't be surprised if your "private" posts are searchable online by someone looking.

Unless the site owner pays for private hosting and has access to the file management system and the SQL content then there is no guarantee that your posts are really private.

This is true Judy! But, it's not as open as say, Daycare bear or other forums where both parents and providers have access. Someone would actually have to put in the effort to search for things and a lot of people are lazy that way. But, this is why your forum is so trusted and we can be so open and honest about what daycare is really like. :)

Yes, that is true. I just wanted everyone to know. I would hate for them to think that their private posts were "safe". I think in anything in life if we assume private we trust in that and I just wanted to protect providers. Well, I know you know what I mean.

I have actually been on a different forum wherein a parent with a vengeance actually DID go through the work and happily shared provider posts with everyone on a parenting forum in a local city. It was NOT good.

Wow, that's crazy! A parent with WAY to much time on their hands!

I had an experience like this too and I don't know much about computers but google had somehow put everything we had written on the internet under our assumed code names of course, but apparently some people know how to figure out who you are. Nothing on the internet is completely safe so it's best to never use names of your clients or too let your emotions out too much no matter how safe you feel.

I gave up trying to even get the link to open...figured if I couldn't open it after trying several times on different days, it would probably be trouble if I do get it to work anyway....

Agreed ~ I find the free forumation forums too frustrating to use not only as an administrator but as a member ... they are generally very slow to load and maneuver through reading posts waiting for the new page to load and well quiet time is 'limited' so I want to make the most of it ;)

Also find that different 'servers' have more trouble with this forum format ... aka Rogers verses Bell verses Verizon or whatever so of them just communicate really poorly together as well as Explorer verses Firefox and so forth :(

Well the site seems to be working fine. I've never had any issues with that host before and I've used them for years in the past. Anyway, I just wanted to remind those who have joined or are still continuing to join to make sure you email Marbles (her email is on the registration page) with some form of proof that you are a provider. She has had a lot of people register and not email her and she will not approve the registration until she get the email from them. I also just wanted to clarify that while this site is not 100% safe...it is 100 times MORE safe than posting here where parents have direct access to your posts. :) Ok, carry on with your daily schedule, lol.
